TRYON, N.C. – For the fourth time in as many years, PBR (Professional Bull Riders) will buck into the state-of-the-art Tryon International, bringing the Challenger Series’ PBR Tryon to Mill Spring, North Carolina, June 21-22.
For two nights only, some of the best bull riders in the world will battle the sport’s rankest bovine athletes in the ultimate showdown of man vs. beast in a series showcasing one of the most exciting and unpredictable live sporting events to witness.
PBR Tryon is held at one of the most renowned venues across the 2024 Challenger Series schedule. The Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort (Tryon International, TIEC) is the ultimate destination for all who love horses, outdoor living, and an active lifestyle. TIEC offers first-class facilities for equestrian events of all levels and disciplines as well as world-class entertainment. Located in the Blue Ridge Foothills of Mill Spring, North Carolina, the competition experience is complemented by a variety of onsite restaurants and shops, relaxing lodging getaways, family entertainment, and more.
The PBR Challenger Series will hold more than 60 events from May-October, culminating with its Championship on October 16-17 in Las Vegas. The PBR Challenger Series provides additional competitive opportunities for bull riders who are both affiliated and unaffiliated with a PBR Teams league team.
The PBR debuted at Tryon International in 2021, bringing the Velocity Tour to the Tar Heel State as 2018 Rookie of the Year Keyshawn Whitehorse (McCracken Springs, Utah) and Ezekiel Mitchell (Rockdale, Texas) both put together 2-for-3 performances to tie for the event win.
In June 2022, the “Original Extreme Sport” returned to Tryon International Stadium for the final preseason event for the newly launched PBR Teams league, a groundbreaking league which transformed bull riding from an individual to team sport.
Rebounding from a 0-2 showing at the first preseason event in Bismarck, North Dakota, the Arizona Ridge Riders were a picture of perfection in Tryon, winning both of their games and posting the lone qualified ride of the Bonus Round.
In 2023, PBR’s Challenger Series debuted at TIEC as Mitchell tied for the event win alongside the Mid-Atlantic’s Carlos Garcia (Abingdon, Virginia). The event was the first of two Western sports competitions to take over the renowned equestrian venue. In October, Tryon International hosted the WCRA’s (World Champions Rodeo Alliance) Rodeo Carolina, the richest rodeo east of the Mississippi Rodeo, which featured dozens of cowboys and cowgirls vying for their share of the $400,000 event purse.
The bull riding action for the 2024 PBR Tryon at Tryon International begins at 8 p.m. EDT on Friday, June 21, and 7 p.m. EDT on Saturday, June 21.
All 35 competing bull riders will get on one bull each in Round 1 on Friday night and Round 2 on Saturday evening. The riders’ individual two-round scores will be totaled with the Top 10 advancing to the championship round for one more out and a chance at the event title.
Tickets for the two-day are on sale now, and start at $30, taxes and fees not included. Tickets can be purchased online at Tryon.com, Etix.com, and PBR.com, or by calling PBR customer service at 1-800-732-1727.
