NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The New York Mavericks added four (4) riders to their roster Wednesday night in Nashville, Tennessee at the 2024 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Teams New Rider Draft. Under the leadership of Head Coach Kody Lostroh, the Mavericks first welcomed Hudson Bolton (Milan, Tennessee) with the No. 3 overall pick, followed by Marco Rizzo (Quitman, Georgia), Maverick Smith (Mt. Grove, Missouri) and Eikson Pereira (Minaçu, Brazil) in the Draft’s subsequent rounds.
“Excited about the Draft tonight,” said Head Coach Lostroh moments after the conclusion of the 2024 PBR Teams New Rider Draft. “The picks were surprising. Some teams picked different than we thought they would, and it left some picks falling to us that we really wanted and didn’t think we’d have the opportunity at. So we are really excited, we got everybody we wanted.”
With the third overall pick, the Mavericks selected Bolton, an 18-year-old left-handed rider who made a name for himself at the PBR Teams Combine and earlier this year in January, as a 17-year-old, going 4-for-4 to win the International Finals Rodeo at the Lazy E in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
“I came to this Draft and I ended up getting selected third overall, so I was super excited about that,” Bolton said. “I am excited to be on Kody Lostroh’s team. I watched him ride when I was growing up, he was super good, so I am really excited.”
“I now have a coach who I have looked up to ever since I was little bitty,” Rizzo said of the Mavericks’ Head Coach Lostroh. “I actually have a shirt signed from him when he won the world. He means a lot to me. I watched him growing up, and I always thought he could help me a lot. I asked him a bunch of questions in the locker room whenever I got the chance, so now, to be able to work with him full-time, it’s got me all excited. Plus, he just drafted Hudson Bolton and Maverick Smith, those are two really good guys that I look up to that are about my age. I am ready to get to work, ready to get healed up and go to work with these guys.”
After first selecting Bolton with the No. 3 overall pick in Round 1, the team chose Rizzo with the No. 11 overall pick in Round 2, and Smith with the No. 21 overall pick in Round 3.
The New York Mavericks then traded considerations to the Carolina Cowboys to obtain their No. 24 overall pick in Round 3, which the team then used to draft Pereira.
The New York Mavericks formally concluded their 2024 PBR Teams New Rider Draft by passing on the No. 32 overall pick in Round 4.
The New York Mavericks’ complete roster now includes:
Leonardo Castro (Cassilandia, Brazil) Romario Leite (Brotas, Brazil) Vitor Losnake (Piratininga, Brazil) Braidy Randolph (Stephenville, Texas) Ederson Santos (Ilha Solteira, Brazil) Leandro Zampollo (Pirassununga, Brazil) Hudson Bolton (Milan, Tennessee) Marco Rizzo (Quitman, Georgia) Maverick Smith (Mt.
