FORT WORTH, Texas – At the 61st iteration of the PBR Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Kase Hitt (Dickson, Oklahoma) took home the event buckle courtesy of a clutch ride in the event's final out.
In the opening round, Hitt was unseated by Rafter H 9X1 (Rafter H Rodeo Livestock) in 4.62 seconds en route to a perfect first round from the powerful bovine competitors.
Originally set to buck early in Round 2, Hitt was offered a re-ride and then was fouled once again in the final out, forcing him to get on a bull immediately after being thrown to the dirt. Proving his mettle, Hitt roared out of the chutes on Free Ride (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for an 86.5-point walk-off victory.
Hitt’s first career PBR victory netted him 46 Challenger Global points with multiple PBR Teams coaches inside Cowtown Coliseum for the final combine event before the 2024 PBR Teams New Rider Draft in Nashville, Tennessee, on Wednesday, May 29.
The first to convert on the evening was Tyler Taylor (Stephenville, Texas), who finished second.
In Round 1, Taylor was bucked off by Rafter H 91 (Rafter H Rodeo Livestock) in 2.54 seconds.
Battling back, the Texan became the first to make the 8 aboard Ground Strike (Stockyards Pro Rodeo/Winston/Gallagher/Melton Bull Co) for a modest 84.5 points in Round 2.
The silver finish earned Taylor 33 Challenger Global points.
Challenger Global points contribute to the Challenger Global Standings and the Top 40 at the end of the season compete in the PBR Challenger Series Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada, held alongside the PBR Teams Championship. A select number of riders from the top of the 2024 Challenger Global Standings will receive a berth to the elite 2025 Unleash The Beast.
In a dominant bull pen that allowed just two rides, Half Cocked (Rafter C Bucking Bulls) was marked 44.5 points for his opening round buckoff of Hudson Bolton (Milan, Tennessee) to take home the Bull of the Event title.
The PBR Stockyards Showcase returns on Thursday, May 30. Action inside Cowtown Coliseum will get underway at 7:30 p.m. CT.
