OCEAN CITY, Md. – Competing just steps from the Atlantic Ocean, Eric Henrique Domingos (Perola, Brazil) was dominant Friday night in Ocean City, Maryland, winning Round 1 of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Challenger Series’ Ocean City Classic.
As one of the final riders to leave the chutes in Ocean City, Domingos was tasked with Banana Slide (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls). Bursting from the chutes, Domingos remained in perfect time with the powerful animal athlete, reaching the requisite 8 with ease.
Awarded 86 points as the raucous outdoor crowd erupted in electric cheer, the qualified ride clinched the round win for Domingos while also earning him 38 Challenger Global points.
Alex Cerqueira (Iguatemi, Brazil) was second, collecting 28 Challenger Global points.
Cerqueira, the defending PBR Ocean City Classic Champion, covered Ready Teddy (Blake Sharp) for 84.5 points.
Compliments of an 80-point ride atop Zeus (Blake Sharp/Michael Floyd), Cody McCandless (Derry, Pennsylvania) was third. He collected 22 Challenger Global points for the podium finish in Round 1.
Fourth was Dylan Smith (Ararat, Virginia).
Despite being offered a re-ride, in a business decision, Smith elected to keep his 75-point score on S&R Hollywood (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls). The score garnered the Virginia native a crucial 12 Challenger Global points.
Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth and the final rider to deliver a score in Round 1 of the PBR Ocean City Classic was Ednelio Almeida (Cacoal, Brazil).
Almeida’s 65-point ride on Ice Man (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls) netted him 65 Challenger Global points.
