FORT WORTH, Texas – At the 62nd iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Dener Barbosa (Paulo de Faria, Brazil) took home the event buckle courtesy of a clutch ride in the final round.
After being bucked off Night Train (Mike Johnson) in Round 1, the veteran rider for the Arizona Ridge Riders in the separate PBR Camping World Team Series rebounded, riding Easy Money (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for an event-high 87.5 points.
The victory earned Barbosa 46 Challenger Global points.
Lucas Fideles Souza (Barnstable, Massachusetts) also went 1-for-2, finishing second.
In the opening round, Souza rocketed out of the gates on Night Hawk (Mason Bucking Bulls) but lost the rope after just 2.92 seconds.
Undeterred, the Commonwealth cowboy roared out of chutes on Fat Rat (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) for 86 points to climb to second.
The silver finish netted Souza a crucial 33 Challenger Global points.
In third place was Leonardo Lima (Vale do Paraiso, Brazil).
Following the pattern of Barbosa and Souza, Lima bucked off his opening-round opponent, Wicked Phase (Mason Bucking Bulls), in 3.21 seconds.
Similarly undeterred, the Brazilian covered Ruthless (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) for 84.5 points in the final round.
The podium finish garnered Lima 22 Challenger Global points.
Fourth place belonged to Jean Fernandes Pereira (Crixas, Brazil).
Flipping the script of the evening, the Brazilian cowboy topped Money Maker (Mason Bucking Bulls) for 84 points to win the opening round.
In Round 2, Pereira thundered out of the chutes on Black Sheep (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for a chance to seize the event title but was unseated after 2.18 seconds.
Pereira left Cowtown Coliseum with a critical 23 Challenger Global points.
Rounding out the Top 5 was Robson Guedes (Descalvado, Brazil), who went 1-for-2.
Paired with Little Bit (Mason Bucking Bulls) in Round 1, he hung on to the powerful bovine competitor for 80 points.
Unfortunately for the Brazilian cowboy, he was unable to get out of the gate on Big Hawk (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) in the final round and ended the night in fifth.
Guedes returned home with 18 Challenger Global points.
Challenger Global points contribute to the Challenger Global Standings. The Top 40 at the end of the season compete in the PBR Challenger Series Championship in Las Vegas, held alongside the PBR Teams Championship. A select number of riders from the top of the 2024 Challenger Global Standings will receive a berth to the elite 2025 Unleash The Beast.
In a rank bull pen that allowed just six rides, The Paint (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) was marked an impressive 46 points for his second-round buckoff of Paulo Souza (Mato Grosso, Brazil) to take home the Bull of the Event title.
