2024 Women's World Championship concludes at AT&T Stadium and crowns four event champions
New event champions were crowned in front of a sold-out arena, and the event reached a new level of dominant competition.

ARLINGTON, Texas – The fifth edition of the world’s richest women’s rodeo, the Women’s Rodeo World Championship (WRWC), concluded at the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys alongside the 2024 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast - Championship. New event champions were crowned in front of a sold-out arena, and the event reached a new level of dominant competition.
The championship round began with six team ropers (three headers and three heelers), three breakaway ropers, and 12 barrel racers. It will crown a WRWC event champion in each discipline, with the victors earning the lion’s share of the historic $750,000 purse.
Barrel racing began the WRWC competition inside “Jerry’s World” with Kindyl Scruggs (Southhaven, Mississippi) clocking a winning time of 15.384 and being crowned the 2024 Women’s Rodeo Barrel Racing Event Champion. She distanced herself from 2023 IPRA (International Pro Rodeo Association) World Champion Julie Plourde’s (Chicoutimi, Quebec) 15.724 push through the stadium. Plourde took home the number two spot of the night, defeating Hazlee Mckenzie (Muldrow, Oklahoma), who logged a 15.730.
The ferociously contested Breakaway Roping Event Championship race capped off a slugfest between Martha Angelone (Stephenville, Texas) and 18-year-old Amy Ohrt (Victoria, Texas).
Backed by a strong showing in the 2024 All-Around, Angelone surged to the top of the breakaway roping leaderboard after a 1.96-second, besting Jordan Jo Hollabaugh (Springtown, Texas). Ohrt then backed into the box to deliver a groundbreaking performance at the event, as the string broke away from her saddle horn at an impressive 1.76-second time, good for the fastest time of the week. The 18-year-old college freshman cashed in during the week, earning more than $61,900.
As the World Championship event continued Saturday evening, a hotly contested battle in the Team Roping began to unfurl. Roping duo Kenna Francis (Las Vegas, New Mexico) and Whitney Desalvo (Wilmar, Arizona) had fans inside the iconic arena on the edge of their seat as they were first to run, earning a remarkable 6.62-second time. The duos of Beverly Robbins (Tuscumbia, Alabama) and Jessy Remsburg (Muscle Shoals, Alabama) along with Megan Gunter (McCammon, Idaho) and Jimmi Jo Montera (Greely, Colorado) did not make a qualified run. Francis and Desalvo took home $71,000 individually.
