2024 Unleash The Beast Game Notes: PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast – Championship Day 2

With just two men left in the World Championship race, it's ALL or NOTHING on Championship Sunday!

By Andrew Hatfield

CROWNING A CHAMPION: The 2024 season comes to a climactic finish this afternoon inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Sunday, May 19, at 1:45 p.m. CDT. The World Finals is the richest bull riding event in the sport, which includes a $1 million bonus awarded to the rider who is crowned the PBR World Champion, and the 2024 event will award a record-setting $3.13 million in prize money, over $400,000 more than was awarded at the 2023 PBR World Finals.

NO. 1 DIAS AND NO. 2 CRIMBER DUEL FOR WORLD TITLE: After the dust settled at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, from the first two rounds of the PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast – Championship, only two riders are left in contention for the 2024 title: No. 1 Cassio Dias and No. 2 John Crimber.

Dias, who has sat atop the standings for all but two weeks of the season, currently holds a 447.5-point lead over Crimber despite going 0-for-2 on Saturday. The Brazilian attempted to top Mike’s Motive in Round 1 but was bucked off in a heartbreaking 7.64 seconds. Visibly battling the multiple injuries he sustained last week in Cowtown Coliseum, the gritty cowboy tried to bounce back on Big Chew in Round 2 but was bested in 3.05 seconds. Dias is matched with Ricky Vaughn in Round 3 on Sunday.

Taking advantage of a re-ride opportunity and Dias being shutout, Crimber rocketed out of the chutes on Skippy for 88 points in Round 1. The 18-year-old phenom attempted to close the gap farther in the second round aboard Fierce’s Dirtnap, but the powerful bovine competitor immediately gained the upper hand and dispatched the Texan in just 0.88 seconds. Crimber faces off with Big Bank in Round 3.
