2024 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast – Ride For Redemption Round 2 matchups

2024 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast – Ride For Redemption Round 2 matchups

Forget what you know. It’s all about what you can DO on the final night of ride-or-go-home action!

By James Youness

FORT WORTH, Texas – With each of the five men who advanced to the 2024 Championship showdown via last weekend’s Eliminations results-based invites producing just one ride score each, respectively …

… the industry’s grandest stage is showing just how important one ride, if not mere single-digit aggregate score points themselves, could be to the pack’s collective attempt at claiming one of the last five endgame spots during Thursday’s final Ride For Redemption shootout.

So, if you want drama, you’ve come to the right place.

Cowtown Coliseum to be specific, which has shined to the nines as the 31-year-old organization tapped its old-school roots in celebrating the first two of three stages inside the historic landmark of a venue.

And for all that the natural light, throwback vibes and lore-forward tidbits the building has to offer, it’s the riders, and their competitive quest, which have dominated the limelight since last Thursday.

As they should.

Coming just 3.5 aggregate points short of taking care of business the first time around, eventually watching on as Claudio Montanha Jr. took the final spot from the opening weekend’s slate of allotments, Dawson Branton returned to the Fort Worth Stockyards determined.

Logging a round-winning 87.75-point conversion aboard Rowdy Wednesday night, Branton improved to 2-for-5 on the week, but more importantly began the Ride For Redemption session 1-for-1.

And because just six cowboys went the distance during the opening perf, and Branton recording the highest of them, his odds to advance are already sitting pretty, as five riders would need to beat that score in order to knock him out of a spot.

Each of No. 1 Cassio Dias, No. 7 Koltin Hevalow, No. 14 Leonardo Castro (qualified via Eliminations but ultimately ruled out due to injury) and No. 17 Julio Cesar Marques already have their spots inside Jerry World locked up. But with rider turned stock contractor turned Kansas City Outlaws coach J.W. Hart teaming up with revered talent Guilherme Marchi in passing their wisdom down the pipeline, the orange and black contingent is hoping to add some additional, cowboy tough, firepower to this weekend’s draw.

With No. 35 Bob Mitchell snapping a 13-out buckoff streak during Wednesday night’s opening Ride For Redemption round, he’ll look to join the gang inside the home of the National Football League’s (NFL) Dallas Cowboys by adding to his established 81.25 aggregate score, earned for his 8 seconds of work atop Bubba G. Sitting sixth entering the second night of last-minute, edge-of-your seat fun, he 100% needs a ride Thursday in order to advance.

So do each of the 32 riders who failed to record a conversion on opening night.

Of course, the other four riders to make the 8 Wednesday, including Vitor Losnake, Rafael dos Santos, Paulo Eduardo Rossetto and Daniel Keeping will also have to endure the pressure associated with fending off the pack should they want to punch their respective tickets.

When we say this is the absolutely final, last, concluding, forever hold your peace opportunity for riders to make their case in earning a spot to compete at one of the biggest events the Western sporting world has ever seen … we mean it.

So, unless the train station is your preferred exit, it’s time to ride.

And with Cole Hauser’s Ultimate Tailgate Party taking over the outskirts of AT&T Stadium May 18, you don’t want to miss this Rip-inspired celebrations.

But before the circuit transitions to Arlington for both Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo and the 2024 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast – Championship, we’ve got some business to settle in Fort Worth.
