Women's Rodeo World Championship announces expanded opportunities for 2025 event

Event to launch Limited classification and Women’s Rodeo Championship ID cards.

By Kyle Jones

AUSTIN, TexasThe Women's Rodeo World Championship (WRWC), the world’s richest women's rodeo, recently announced an expansion of exclusive opportunities for female rodeo athletes, including an updated classification tier and the launch of the Women's Rodeo Championship.

The Women's Rodeo Championship (WRC) will now oversee the Women's Rodeo World Championship (WRWC), and as a part of this change, all athletes will be required to purchase a $150 WRC ID Card, declaring their classification. Before any nomination towards the 2025 WRWC is submitted, athletes must purchase a WRC ID Card, which can be obtained from Nextgen Rodeo by clicking on this link: HERE.

The 2025 WRWC nomination period (W25) will run from April 15th, 2024 to April 13th, 2025. The top 20 teams from the pro and challenger leaderboards in each discipline will qualify for the 2025 event.

The Women's Rodeo World Championship (WRC) is expanding its event payout to include a new Barrel Racing and Breakaway Roping classification. The 2025 event will feature a $42,000 payout designated to "Limited" classified athletes. Limited is designed for athletes who aspire to compete at the WRWC but have yet to be classified as Pros or Challengers and have not earned more than a designated amount of earnings ($20,000 in barrel racing and $5,000 in breakaway roping) in their lifetime. Full details on the Limited Classification are available HERE.

The organization also announced updates to the Challenger classifications. Challengers will be reviewed three times throughout the 2024-25 season (July 31, October 31, January 31). After January 31, 2025, all athletes will remain on their respective leaderboards for the 2025 WRWC event. All challenger information can be found HERE.

The 2024 Women’s Rodeo World Championship event is part of the second Women’s Rodeo World Championship Week, the richest women’s-only week of competition in Western sports, held during the 2024 PBR World Finals. The more than week-long schedule of events is slated to pay out $1.145 million in prize money, allowing more than 800 women’s competitors to compete for life-changing payouts.

Since launching in May 2020, the WRWC has awarded more than $3 million in new money to women's rodeo athletes. For more information about the WRWC visit wrwc.rodeo.
