EVERETT, Wash. – On Wednesday, as the two-night event at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, Washington, got underway, 18-year-old John Crimber (Decatur, Texas) captured his seventh round win of the 2024 Unleash The Beast (UTB) season, winning Round 1 of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Everett with a standout 88.5-point ride.
After a less than ideal weekend in Billings, Montana, where Crimber was unsuccessful in the first two rounds and sat out the third day with injuries, the fiery young Texan was back in action on Everett’s first night - paired with Try Me (Humpz and Hornz/ Frances Dandy) in Round 1.
Launching from the chutes aboard his bovine matchup, Crimber was one of ten men out of a field of 40 to record a qualified ride as the animal athletes had their extreme power on full display in Washington.
With a standout 88.5-point ride, he earned 28 Unleash The Beast points.
Sitting atop the leaderboard heading into Thursday, Crimber holds tight to the No. 3 spot in the Unleash The Beast World Championship standings. The round win puts him 582.50 points behind world leader Cassio Dias (Sao F de Sales, Brazil) and a mere 57.17 points behind No. 2-ranked man Eduardo Aparecido (Gouvelandia, Brazil).
The rare, two-day midweek event at Angel of the Winds Arena marks the third time the elite tour has visited Everett and the 21st UTB event of the 2024 season. Just two events remain before the 2024 PBR World Finals in Fort Worth, Texas, beginning on May 9.
As time ticks down on the 2024 season, the top two riders in the world had a rough go of it on the opening night in Everett. After getting awarded a re-ride by judges, Dias hit the ground hard when Bubba G (Dakota Rodeo/ Brian & Ashley Pintar/ Clay Struve/ Chad Berger) dispatched him after 3.88 seconds. Aparecido’s matchup with Crawfish Richard (Dakota Rodeo/ Chad Berger/ Ken Barnhart) went right up to the wire at 7.77 seconds before he was unseated.
Despite the buck off on night one in Washington, over the past weekend in Billings, Dias clinched the top spot in the Unleash The Beast standings heading into the Elimination Rounds of the PBR World Finals and a chance to ride for the PBR Championship inside AT&T Stadium the following weekend.
Now enjoying his fourteenth consecutive week occupying the No. 1 spot in the standings, the 22-year-old Brazilian cowboy is currently 10- for-15 (66.67%) in Championship Rounds, the second-highest riding percentage in the final round for all riders with multiple championship round performances.
Utah cowboys Keyshawn Whitehorse (McCracken Spring, Utah) and Kyler Oliver (Roy, Utah) shared second place with matching 87-point scores.
Up first in the duo, Whitehorse, who rides for the Arizona Ridge Riders in the separate PBR Teams League, fired from the chutes aboard Tijuana Two-Step (Blake Sharp/ Michael Floyd) as fans cheered. Followed not long after by the Oklahoma Wildcatters athlete, Oliver successfully covered Texas Rain (Dakota Rodeo / Chad Berger/ Pronghorn Well Service).

For their split runner-up finish, both cowboys earned 17.5 Unleash The Beast points. Whitehorse clung tight to the No. 18 spot in the Unleash The Beast standings while Oliver jumped one spot from No. 45 to No. 44.
Oliver’s Wildcatters teammate Cort McFadden (Novice, Texas) also moved up one spot in the standings after a fourth-place finish.
Climbing aboard Smoke Down (Humpz and Hornz/ Frances Dandy), the 20-year-old Texas cowboy was ranked No. 16 in the world.
After flying through the air aboard the bovine, his 86.25-point ride earned him 16 Unleash The Beast points and moved him to No. 15 in the standings.
Leonardo Castro (Cassilandia, Brazil), who will ride for the New York Mavericks during the upcoming PBR Teams League season, rounded out the Top 5 on the opening night in Everett.
After going 2-for-4 in Billings to finish fifth over the weekend, Castro was matched with Trump Train (Dakota Rodeo/ Chad Berger) for his first partner of the week.
For his solid 86-point score, Castro netted 15 Unleash The Beast points to climb from No. 15 to No. 14 in the Unleash The Beast World Championship standings.
PBR Everett continues with Round 2 followed immediately by the championship round on Thursday, April 18, at 7:45 p.m. PT.
