FORT WORTH, Texas – At the 59th iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, home of the PBR World Finals Elimination Rounds and Ride for Redemption, Jean Fernandes Pereira (Crixas, Brazil) went 2-for-2 to take home the event buckle.
The Brazilian roared out of the chutes on Young 618 (Young Cattle/Rocking A) for 84 points, placing second in the opening round.
He then covered Off The Hook (Martinez Bucking Bulls, LLC) for 83 points in the final round to overtake the top spot.
Pereira returned home with 56 Velocity Global points.
In second place was Joao Henrique Lucas (Bastos, Brazil), who was the only other rider to go 2-for-2.
Paired with ECF 49H (Barthold & Eldred), the Brazilian rocketed out of the gate for 80 points in the first round.
Knowing he needed a qualified ride to move onto the podium, Lucas then shot out of the chutes on Elkins 0486 (Philip Elkins) in the second round for 81 points.
The silver finish netted Lucas a critical 43 Velocity Global points.
Third place belonged to Elizmar Jeremias (Anapu, Brazil).
A rider for the Florida Freedom in the separate PBR Camping World Team Series, he topped ECF 012 (Barthold & Eldred) for a round-winning, event-high 87 points to take an early lead.
Sharing a chute with Lil Capone (Martinez Bucking Bulls, LLC) in the final round, the Brazilian cowboy was quickly unseated after just 1.95 seconds.
The third-place finish and round win earned Jeremias 26 Velocity Global points.
After not competing since January, Braidy Randolph (Stephenville, Texas) returned with a bang, finishing fourth.
While he was bucked off in his first out by ECF G6 (Barthold & Eldred) in 4.59 seconds, the Texan rallied in Round 2, topping Lost Pearl (Martinez Bucking Bulls, LLC) for a round-winning 83.5 points.
The 1-for-2 performance earned Randolph 23 Velocity Global points.
Rounding out the Top 5 was Guthrie Long (Pecos, Texas).
The Texas cowboy got off to a strong start aboard ECF B44 (Barthold & Eldred) for 82.5 points but was bucked off in 2.81 seconds by Wreck Shop (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) in the final round to end his bid for the event title.
Long took home 17 Velocity Global points.
Velocity Global points contribute to the Velocity Global Standings and determine which new riders are added to the elite Unleash The Beast throughout the season. The Top 3 Velocity Global riders who have not already qualified are also invited to the PBR World Finals in May.
In the bull pen, Cooper/Scruggs 06 (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) was marked 44 points for his 1.96-second buckoff of Grayson Cole (New Ringgold, Pennsylvania) in Round 2 to win the Bull of the Event title.
The PBR Stockyards Showcase returns on Thursday, April 25. Action inside Cowtown Coliseum will get underway at 7:30 p.m. CT.
