FORT WORTH, Texas – At the 57th iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, home of the PBR World Finals Elimination Rounds and Ride for Redemption, Dener Barbosa (Paulo de Faria, Brazil) went 2-for-2 to take home the event buckle.

The Brazilian got off to a hot start aboard El Cerrito (Blue Ridge/Risen Cattle Co) for 81 points, entering the final round sixth.

The veteran then became the only rider to convert twice on Fat Rat (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls), posting an 84-point performance in the final round to anchor his spot atop the leaderboard.

Barbosa left Cowtown Coliseum with 50 Velocity Global points.

Round 2 winner Leandro Zampollo (Pirassununga, Brazil) finished second.

After being bucked off in a heartbreaking 7.74 seconds at the hooves of Dairy Palace (Jenkins Cattle Co.) in the opening round, the Brazilian rallied to top Crooked Officer (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) for an event-high 87.5 points to catapult into second place.

The silver finish netted Zampollo 36 Velocity Global points.

Another rider with a flawless performance Thursday evening was Flavio Zivieri (Balsamo, Brazil), who went 1-for-1 and finished third.

The Brazilian won Round 1 by riding Natural (Blue Ridge/Risen Cattle Co.) for 86 points.

Zivieri headed to compete as a last-minute call-up for the elite Unleash The Beast event in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with 26 Velocity Global points.

In fourth was Lucas Fideles Souza (Barnstable, Massachusetts).

Souza was right on Zivieri’s spurs after the opening round, posting an 85.5-point outing on Killer Instinct (Jenkins Cattle Co.).

The Massachusetts cowboy then roared out of the gates on Wreck Shop (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) but was unseated after a thrilling 6.11 seconds.

Souza garnered 20 Velocity Global points for his 1-for-2 performance.

Douglas Franco (Braganca Paulista, Brazil) finished fifth.

Undeterred after bucking off PSB 0 (Paige Stout Bucking Bulls) in 4.21 seconds in the opening round, Franco rallied to cover Hot Pursuit (Stockyards Pro Rodeo/NIP Ranch/Melton Bull Co) for 85 points in the final round.

Franco returned home with 17.5 Velocity Global points.

Velocity Global points contribute to the Velocity Global Standings and determine which new riders are added to the elite Unleash The Beast throughout the season. The Top 3 Velocity Global riders who have not already qualified are also invited to the PBR World Finals in May.

Kevin (Paige Stout/Lukas Banning Bucking Bulls) won the Bull of the Event title for his 2.45-second Round 1 buck off of Matthew Pinon (Crone, Texas), as the powerful bovine competitor was marked 43 points.
