FORT WORTH, Texas – At the55th iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, home of the PBR World Finals Elimination Rounds and Ride for Redemption, Cassio Dias (Sao F. de Sales, Brazil) went a perfect 2-for-2 to win the event.
Currently the No. 1 ranked rider on the elite Unleash the Beat, Dias roared out of the chutes on RCBB 026 (Rafter C Bucking Bulls) for an event-high-tying 86 points to win the opening round.
In a groove, the superstar for the Kansas City Outlaws on the separate PBR Camping World Team Series sat tall atop Big City Blues (Barthold & Eldred) for 85.5 points.
The only rider to go a perfect 2-for-2, Dias garnered 59 Velocity Global points.
In second place was Paulo Eduardo Rossetto (Colorado, Brazil).
The Brazilian rebounded after bucking off Brutal Player (Mason Bucking Bulls) in 5.94 seconds in the first round to cover RCBB R83 (Rafter C Bucking Bulls) for 86 points to win Round 2.
The silver finish earned Rossetto a critical 36 Velocity Global points.
Guthrie Long (Pecos, Texas) finished third, also going 1-for-2.
The Lone Star State cowboy burst out of the chutes on RCBB 912 (Rafter C Bucking Bulls) for 85.5 points in Round 1, positioning him in second entering the final round.
Looking to seize the event lead, he rocketed out of the gates on ECF G6 (Barthold & Eldred) but lost the rope after a thrilling 4.92 seconds.
The last spot on the podium netted Long 23 Velocity Global points.
Rounding out the Top 5 was a tie between Keyshawn Whitehorse (McCraken Spring, Utah) and Nick Tetz (Calgary, Alberta, Canada), who both went 1-for-1, and Boogie Marquez (Monahan, Texas), who went 1-for-2.
The Canadian cowboy topped Blood Money (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) for 85 points before Whitehorse matched him with an 85-point outing of his own aboard Pogo (JD Nix Rodeo Co.).
Marquez rode CMSR 019 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for 85 points in Round 1 and attempted to catapult up the standings on Kenny (Barthold & Eldred) in Round 2 but was unseated after 2.41 seconds.
The trio left Cowtown Coliseum with 16.3 Velocity Global points apiece.
Velocity Global points contribute to the Velocity Global Standings and determine which new riders are added to the elite Unleash The Beast throughout the season. The Top 3 Velocity Global riders who have not already qualified are also invited to the PBR World Finals in May.
The rankest bovine competitor in the pen was Hoof Stock Genetics Mud Train (Canyon Oaks/JD Nix) who won the Bull of the Event title for his 1.44-second buck off of Jonatan Milano (Morungaba, Brazil) in Round 1, marked 45 points.
The PBR Stockyards Showcase returns on Thursday, March 28. Action inside Cowtown Coliseum will get underway at 7:30 p.m. CT.
PBR RidePass on Pluto TV will offer re-airs and on-demand replays of every PBR Stockyards Showcase event. PBR RidePass is available on desktops, laptops and mobile devices via www.pluto.tv. Click here for on-demand PBR programming.
