New York Mavericks officially launch with new logo, social media channels

Expansion squad set to be coached by PBR World Champions Kody Lostroh, Ednei Caminhas.

By James Youness

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The New York Mavericks, one of PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) newest teams, today revealed their official logo and social media handles. As the first professional bull riding team to represent New York, the New York Mavericks are poised to take advantage of the rapidly growing interest and excitement for bull riding in the Northeast and across the country. The announcement of New York’s newest sports team, backed by Avenue Sports Fund, follows PBR’s 17th successful year of the “Unleash The Beast' competition at Madison Square Garden.

“New York City embodies the Maverick spirit like no other, with its relentless energy and unyielding determination,” said New York Mavericks GM Chris Pantani. “I am thrilled to share our logo which embodies that spirit and the team’s social media channels where we will celebrate and engage the dynamic bull riding fan base that spans the Northeast as well as the passionate international community that calls this city home.”

“As the PBR continues to grow in popularity and reach new audiences, we’re excited to give New York and the Northeast a home team and a key destination on the bull riding tour,” said Marc Lasry, Avenue Capital Group's Chairman and CEO and the leader of the Avenue Sports Fund.

The New York Mavericks will be the host team for the PBR Camping World Team Series on August 9 and 10 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. This will be the first home event for the New York Mavericks and the first time the Brooklyn arena will host a bull riding event.

The logo and social handles launch follows the announcement of the New York Mavericks’ world champion coaches, Kody Lostroh and Ednei Caminhas. Lostroh is the 2009 World Champion and ten-time PBR World Finals qualifier and Caminhas is one of the longest-tenured bull riders in PBR history, earning a World Champion title in 2002.

“Since I arrived in the U.S. to chase my dream of riding bulls, the welcoming fans in the New York area have always held a special place in my heart for their passion and support of bull riding,” said Assistant Coach Ednei Caminhas. “The Northeast is home to a large Brazilian contingent, and I look forward to spending time and getting to know the fans there at our homestand on August 9.”

Tickets for the 2024 PBR Camping World Team Series’ Mavericks Days at Barclays Center are currently on sale. The event begins at 7:45 p.m. ET on Friday, August 9, and 6:45 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 10.
