BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – As the first-ever PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour event in Bridgeport, Connecticut, concluded Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd inside Total Mortgage Arena, Hunter Ball (Carsonville, Michigan) and Grayson Cole (New Ringgold, Pennsylvania) emerged the supreme competitors, tying for the event win at PBR Bridgeport.
Both Ball and Cole, who rides for the Florida Freedom in the separate PBR Camping World Team Series, went 1-for-3 to garner 93 Velocity Global points.
Ball was sensational in Round 1, delivering the top score when he bested Juicy Fruit (C-B Bucking Bulls) for 84 points.
Cole posted his matching 84-point ride to top the leaderboard in Round 2 as he went the distance aboard Nighttime Crime (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls).
Matt Hennelly (Miami, Oklahoma) was third compliments of his 83.5-point ride on Red Man (C-B Bucking Bulls) in Round 2. The reserved Oklahoman left Connecticut having earned 54 Velocity Global points.
Rounding out the Top 5 and tying for fourth were Paulo Rodriguez (Mato Grosso, Brazil) and Bruno Roberto (Restinga, Brazil).
Rodriguez and Roberto both posted 82.5-point rides.
Rodriquez made the requisite 8 on No Diggity (C-B Bucking Bulls) in Round 1 to collect 36 Velocity Global points, while Roberto topped Gooba (C-B Bucking Bulls) in Round 2 to earn 37 Velocity Global points.
PBR’s animal athletes dominated in Bridgeport, surrendering just 10 rides in 73 attempts, delivering buckoffs in 86.3% of the outs inside Total Mortgage Arena.
Armageddon (Dave Martin/Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) led the rank contingent of animal athletes and was crowned the Bull of the Event. Bucking in Round 1, Armageddon posted an unrivaled 43.5-point score for his 2.43-second buckoff of Joao Paulo Fernandes (Hidrolina, Brazil).
The PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour will next travel to Bangor, Maine, on March 8-10 and Mobile, Alabama, on March 9.
Action for PBR Bangor at Cross Insurance Center begins at 8:00 p.m. EST on Friday, March 8, 7:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, March 9, and 2:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, March 10.
PBR Mobile will take over the Mobile Civic Center Arena on Saturday, March 9, at 7:00 p.m. CST.
