FORT WORTH, Texas – At the 56th iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, home of the PBR World Finals Elimination Rounds and Ride for Redemption, Grayson Cole (New Ringgold, Pennsylvania) converted in his final out to take the event buckle.
After being bucked off in a heartbreaking 7.42 seconds by HD 060 (D&H Cattle Company), Cole roared out of the chutes on CMSR 911 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for a round-winning 85.5 points to seize the event lead.
The clutch conversion netted Cole 46 Velocity Global points.
In second place was Chase Outlaw (Hamburg, Arkansas).
Looking to return to top form, the veteran rocketed out of the gate on HD 48H (D&H Cattle Company) but was unseated after 6.93 seconds.
Proving his mettle, the Arkansas cowboy rebounded aboard CMSR 014 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for 83 points.
The silver finish earned Outlaw 33 Velocity Global points.
Colton Dougherty (Woodburn, Oregon) came in third, going 1-for-2.
The Oregonian cowboy got out to an early lead, besting Rafter H 99 (Rafter H Rodeo Livestock) for a round-winning 81 points.
In search of his first career PBR victory, Dougherty flew out of the chutes on BNS H874-3 (BS Cattle Co) but was bucked off in 2.82 seconds.
The last spot on the podium garnered Dougherty 26 Velocity Global points.
The final qualified ride belonged to Joao Henrique Lucas (Bastos, Brazil).
Unable to get out of the chutes in the opening round, Lucas roared back in Round 2, riding CMSR 9E (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for 78.5 points.
The Brazilian left Cowtown Coliseum with 18 Velocity Global points.
Velocity Global points contribute to the Velocity Global Standings and determine which new riders are added to the elite Unleash The Beast throughout the season. The Top 3 Velocity Global riders who have not already qualified are also invited to the PBR World Finals in May.
The rankest bovine competitors in the seemingly unstoppable pen were Magic Hunter (Martinez Bucking Bulls, LLC.) and HD 112H (D&H Cattle Company). Magic Hunter bucked off Joao Gabriel Saran (Brodowski, Brazil) in 3.71 seconds in Round 1 for 43.5 points, while HD 112H matched him by shedding Jadon Hayes (Abilene, Texas) in 3.19 seconds.
The PBR Stockyards Showcase returns on Thursday, April 4. Action inside Cowtown Coliseum will get underway at 7:30 p.m. CT.
