Thiago Salgado’s flawless evening wins PBR Stockyards Showcase

Three more riders also go produce perfect 2-for-2 showings in Fort Worth.

FORT WORTH, Texas – At the 52nd iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, home of the PBR World Finals Elimination Rounds and Ride for Redemption, Thiago Salgado (Navirai, Brazil) went a perfect 2-for-2 to win the event title.

A rider for the Florida Freedom in the separate PBR Camping World Team Series, Salgado first rode Elkins 876 (Philip Elkins) for 85 points.

The Brazilian then catapulted to the top of the leaderboard in the final round by covering Hot Grease (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for an event-high 87 points.

Salgado returned home with a crucial 59 Velocity Global points.

In second place was Alvaro Ariel (Itumirim, Brazil).

He roared out of the chutes on CMSR 019 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for 84.5 points to finish third in Round 1.

Looking to win the third event of his career in the Lone Star State, Ariel burst out of the gate on Hot Pursuit (Stockyards Pro Rodeo/NIP Ranch/Melton Bull Co), coming up just short of the event lead with 85.5 points.

The silver finish netted Ariel 45 points.

Claudio Montanha Jr. (Ribeirao dos Indios, Brazil) also went a perfect 2-for-2, finishing third.

After covering Rafter H 66H (Rafter H Rodeo Livestock) for 84 points in Round 1, he thundered out of the chutes on Party Star (Stockyards/Pritchett Ranch/Melton Bull Co) for 84.5 points.

The third-place finish earned Montanha 32 Velocity Global points.

Fourth place belonged to Guilherme Valleiras (Pirassununga, Brazil).

The Brazilian cowboy topped Elkins 903 (Philip Elkins) for 81.5 points in Round 1.

The final rider to go a perfect 2-for-2 then converted aboard Wises’ 101st Airbourne (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for 84.5 points in Round 2.

Valleiras’ flawless performance garnered 27.5 Velocity Global points.

Rounding out the Top 5 was Joao Henrique Lucas (Bastos, Brazil).

The Brazilian cowboy won Round 1, riding Elkins 914 (Philip Elkins) for 85.5 points.

Looking to maintain his lead in the final round, Lucas catapulted out of the chutes on CMSR 018 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) but lost the rope in 2.95 seconds.

Lucas left Cowtown Coliseum with 21 Velocity Global points.

Velocity Global points contribute to the Velocity Global Standings and determine which new riders are added to the elite Unleash The Beast throughout the season. The Top 3 Velocity Global riders who have not already qualified are also invited to the PBR World Finals in May.

In the bull pen, Train Smoke (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) earned the Bull of the Event title by bucking off Leandro Zampollo (Pirassununga, Brazil) in the second round, marked 43 points.
