BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour (PWVT) returned to Bakersfield, California, Saturday night where Keyshawn Whitehorse (McCracken Spring, Utah) was unstoppable, securing his first PWVT event win of the year.
In Round 1, the 26-year-old Arizona Ridge Riders athlete, in the separate PBR Camping World Teams Series, was paired with Willie (Naccarato Bucking Bulls), firing out of the chutes for an impressive 84.5 points, finishing in second place for his efforts.
As the amazing animal athletes of the PBR showcased their supreme agility throughout the final round, the Utah cowboy was the only man to go 2-for-2 after matching up with Scarface (Evan Matthews) for an extraordinary 84 points in the championship round.
For his perfect night, Whitehorse netted 125 Velocity Global points.
Qynn Andersen (Koumala, Australia) was second on the evening at Mechanics Bank Arena.
Anderson was paired with Hardcore Slinger (Diamond Bar Cattle) in Round 1, collecting the win for the round with a rugged 86-point ride.
He then set his sights on the championship round where, to the California crowd’s dismay, Joker (Culp Bucking Bulls) dispatched Anderson after 4.81 seconds.
Anderson collected 78 Velocity Global points for his 1-for-2 efforts.
With a determined look, Briggs Madsen (Tremonton, Utah) conquered his Round 1 matchup against Misunderstood (Julio Moreno Bucking Bulls), turning in an 85-point ride to put himself in the Top 2 for the opening round in Bakersfield.
The 24-year-old Missouri Thunder rider then hoped to keep the momentum going in the championship round aboard Rank Frank (Diamond Bar Cattle), however the powerful bovine athlete flung him to the dirt after a mere 5.32 seconds.
Madsen earned 54 Velocity Global points for his third-place finish.
Kyler Oliver (Roy, Utah) rounded out the top 4 in Bakersfield Saturday night.
In Round 1, he was paired with Wango Tango (Naccarato Bucking Bulls). He was successful in the matchup with an exhilarating 83-point ride.
Looking ahead at the championship round, the Kansas City Outlaws athlete was paired with Red Smoke (Humpz and Hornz).
Despite his best efforts, the incredible animal won the duel, bucking the Utah cowboy off after just 2.38 seconds.
The talented bull riders of the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour will next head to Reading, Pennsylvania, for PBR Reading at Santander Arena Feb. 9-10. In a double-up weekend, the PWVT will also be in Cedar Park, Texas, for PBR Cedar Park at H-E-B Center on Feb. 9-10.
