FORT WORTH, Texas – At the forty-fourth iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Felipe Furlan (Sales Oliveira, Brazil) went a perfect 2-for-2 to win the event buckle.
Quickly becoming a staple on the PBR’s elite Unleash The Beast, the young Brazilian began his evening by topping Trophy Hunter (Martinez Bucking Bulls, LLC) for an event-high 88.5 points.
Now in full control, Furlan, a member of the Missouri Thunder on the separate PBR Teams, roared out of the gates on Page 60J (D&H Cattle Company) for 86.5 points to maintain the top spot on the leaderboard.
The flawless outing earned Furlan a critical 59 Velocity Global points.
After winning the event last Thursday, Cort McFadden (Novice, Texas) put together a second-straight-perfect performance in Fort Worth to take home second.
The Austin Gamblers’ McFadden came up just short of overtaking Furlan in Round 1, scoring 87 points on Doze You Down (Dozier Cattle Co/Martinez Bucking Bulls).
The Texan was then tasked with Page 29H (D&H Cattle Company) and he easily made the 8 for 85 points.
The runner-up finish netted McFadden 45 Velocity Global points and pushed him into first place in the early Touring Pro Division standings.
Thiago Salgado (Navirai, Brazil) came in third.
The last rider to go 2-for-2, the Florida Freedom’s Salgado hung onto UR 57 (Scott Burruss) for 83.5 points in the opening round.
Now in a groove, the Brazilian matched Skyline (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) jump-for-jump in the final round for 84 points.
The bronze finish garnered Salgado 31 Velocity Global points.
After being bucked off in Round 1, Leonard Castro Ferreira (Cassilandia, Brazil) rallied to finish fourth.
Looking to jump up the leaderboard, the Brazilian cowboy thundered out of the gate on Pag 109J (D&H Cattle Company), scoring a round-high 87.5 points to rocket up the event standings.
His efforts netted him 23 Velocity Global points.
Rounding out the Top 5 was Lane Nobles (West, Texas).
The Texan got off to a strong start, covering The Enforcer (Martinez Bucking Bulls, LLC) for 85.5 points in Round 1.
However, Jacy’s Pet (Classic Jack Cattle/Viducic Bucking Bulls) bested him in 4.39 seconds in the final round, ending Nobles’ chance at an event buckle.
The Texas cowboy returned home with 17 Velocity Global points.
Also of note was a star for the 2023 PBR Teams Champion Texas Rattlers, Daniel Keeping (Montague, Texas) who went 1-for-2 and finished sixth Thursday evening.
In the bull pen, Page 101J (D&H Cattle Company), Hunting Trip (Dozier Cattle Co/Martinez Bucking Bulls) and Page 12J (D&H Cattle Company) were all marked 44 points to split the Bull of the Event title.
