FORT WORTH, Texas – At the forty-seventh iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Lucas Divino (Nova Crixas, Brazil) went a perfect 2-for-2 to win the event title.
A member of the Austin Gamblers on the PBR Camping World Team Series, Divino kicked off his evening by covering Rooster (Lancaster & Jones Pro Rodeo) for 74 points.
Positioned in fifth after the opening round, the veteran knew he had to rally to win the buckle. The Brazilian cowboy locked in aboard Mr. Vaquero (D&H Cattle Co./Buck Cattle Co) for a round-winning and event-high tying 85 points in his final out to take the lead.
His flawless performance netted him 48 Velocity Global points.
The only other rider to go a perfect 2-for-2 was Bruno Carvalho (Alvares Florence, Brazil).
Barely hanging on for 52 points on Rockstar (Gerry Byrns) in Round 1, Carvalho bounced back, riding Chap (D&H Cattle Company) for 83 points in Round 2.
The Brazilian left Cowtown Coliseum with a crucial 34 Velocity Global points.
Colton Dougherty (Woodburn, Oregon) finished third Thursday evening.
The Oregonian burst out of the chutes for an event-high tying 85 points in Round 1 on Buzz (Flinn Cattle Co.) to win the opening round.
In search of his first career PBR victory, Dougherty stormed out the gate aboard Charmer (D&H Cattle Co./Buck Cattle Co) but was bucked off after 4.14 seconds.
The young cowboy returned home with 26 Velocity Global points.
In fourth was Warlei de Oliveira da Silva (Aparecido do Toboado, Brazil).
In Round 1, the Brazilian covered Deuces Wild (Gerry Byrns ) for 81 points.
Looking to climb up the standings, Silva surged out of the chutes on Honkey Tonk (Craig Moore/D&H Cattle/Buck Cattle) but was bucked off in 5 seconds.
Silva earned a critical 20 Velocity Global points in his first event with the PBR on American soil.
Rounding out the Top 5 was Ben Moran (Yeppoon, Australia).
The Aussie cowboy topped Fire N Hole (Lancaster % Jones Pro Rodeo) for 80.5 points in Round 1.
Knowing he needed a strong performance to earn his first victory in the U.S., the 20-year-old stormed out of the chutes on CMSR 938 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) but was unseated after 3.88 seconds.
Moran garnered 17 Velocity Global points for his 1-for-2 performance.
The only other qualified ride of the evening belonged to Leandro Zampollo (Pirassununga, Brazil), who topped Magic Fist (Lancaster & Jones Pro Rodeo) for 76.5 points in Round 1.
Woody (Eli Flinn) led a rank pen to win the Bull of the Event title, marked 43.5 points for his buck off of Travis Briscoe (Edgewood, New Mexico) in Round 1.
