SPOKANE, Wash. – In front of a sold-out crowd at the Spokane Arena on Saturday night, Kyler Oliver (Roy, Utah) clinched the second PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour (PWVT) event win of his career at the PBR Spokane.
Oliver, one of only two men to successfully go 2-for-2 in Spokane, was paired with Bringing Fire (Big Bend/ Flying Five) in Round 1 of the night, launching out of the chutes for a solid 82 points.
The 24-year-old Kansas City Outlaws’ rider, in the separate PBR Camping World Teams Series was then able to match Cold Turkey’s (Corey & Lange Rodeo) energy for 87 points in the championship round sending Washington fans into a deafening roar.
For his perfect night, Oliver heads home to Utah with 123 points and is now ranked No. 4 in the Velocity Global standings.
California cowboy Kyle Eaton (Chico, California) captured second place overall – 25 points behind Oliver in the aggregate.
Eaton was paired with Dirty Deeds (Wentz Bucking Bulls/ King Rodeo) in Round 1 for 80 points. The score helped the 24-year-old punch his ticket into the championship round.
Setting his sights on the final round, he recorded a less than ideal 64-point score for his ride aboard Pretty Boy (Corey & Lange Rodeo). Despite the setback, Eaton collected 74 Velocity Global points for his 2-for-2 effort and is now ranked No. 14.
Carolina Cowboys’ athlete Dawson Branton (Jefferson, Oregon) bested his Round 1 opponent Gringo (Big Bend/ Flying Five) for 87.5 points.
The 22-year-old then faltered as Barely Legal (Wentz Bucking Bulls/ King Rodeo) tossed him to the ground after 3.52 seconds in the championship round.
Branton is now ranked No. 2 in the standings after earning 64 Velocity Global points for his third-place finish.
Callum Miller (Warwick, Queensland, Australia) earned a qualified ride in Round 1 aboard Special (Corey & Lange Rodeo) for an 85.5-point score. Despite an early departure from his bovine matchup Catfish Joe (Corey & Lange Rodeo) after just 5.1 seconds in the championship round, Miller secured a fourth-place finish.
The Australian man earned 39 Velocity Global points in Spokane to climb to No. 20 in the standings.
Florida Freedom rider Bill Henry (Manila, Utah) held on strong to finish within the Top 5.
The talented 21-year-old rocketed from the chutes in Round 1 aboard Moccasin Track (Wentz Bucking Bulls/ King Rodeo) for a resounding 83.5 points.
The championship round did not go as planned for the Utah cowboy as Inky (Corey & Lange Rodeo) defeated him in a quick 2.17 seconds.
His efforts netted him 34 Velocity Global points and a spot at No. 22 in the standings.
The talented bull riders of the PWVT will next head to Grand Rapids, Michigan, for the Tractor Supply Co. PBR Grand Rapids at Van Andel Arena Jan. 19-20. Additionally, in a double-up weekend, the PWVT will also be in Reno, Nevada, for the PBR Reno on Jan.19-20 at the Reno Events Center.
