RENO, Nev. – As the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour’s (PWVT) PBR Reno rolled to a close on Friday night, Chad Hartman (Lancer, Saskatchewan, Canada) emerged victorious after riding his way to the Round 1 win with a 89-point ride.
Hartman had Nevada fans cheering at full volume as he fired out of the chutes aboard Long Gone (Twisted Horns Cattle Co/Bear).
For this 24-year-old Canadian cowboy’s first-place finish on Friday night, he earned 28 Velocity Global points and heads into Saturday leading the charge.
Brazilian Marco Eguchi (Poa, Brazil) punched his ticket into Round 2 when he erupted from the chutes aboard Not Yet (Team Wyatt) to secure a second-place finish. Not far behind the first-place ride from Hartman, the 34-year-old rider received an 88-point ride score, earning him 18 Velocity Global points.
Third place in Reno’s opening round went to Austin Gamblers rider Ramon De Lima for his 87-point matchup with Midnight Magic (Jenkins Cattle Co.).
His efforts netted the 33-year-old cowboy 17 Velocity Global points.
Claiming fourth place in Friday night’s opening round was Australian Callum Miller (Warwick, Queensland, Australia).He successfully matched bovine athlete Howdy (Sho-Me Rodeo) for an incredible 86.5-point ride.
For his fourth-place finish, Miller earned 16 Velocity Global points.
Rounding out the Top 5 of the night was a set of three cowboys, Ezekiel Mitchell (Rockdale, Texas), Nicolas Hernandez (Telford, Pennsylvania), and Andy Bohl (St. Cloud, Florida),all scoring solid 85-point rides.
One of the last men to ride for the night, Mitchell had Nevada fans roaring as he fired out of the chutes aboard Aggie Pete (Julian Cattle). The Gamblers athlete crashed to the ground when dispatched. Being helped out by sports med, he gave fans a thumbs up.
After matching his bovine athlete’s energy, Hernandezconfidently conquered Undraftable (Julian Cattle).
The third man in the trio, Bohl, was matched with Easter Egg (CIL Cattle Co).
The three athletes each earned 14 Velocity Global points for their fifth-place tie in the opening round.
PBR Reno will continue inside the Reno Events Center as the top bull riders of the PWVT return for Round 2 followed by the championship round on Saturday, January 20, at 7 p.m. PST.
