FORT WORTH, Texas – At the forty-fifth iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Alex Junior da Silva (Bom Jesus da Penha, Brazil) rode supreme to win his first event buckle on U.S. soil.
The Brazilian topped Hart 018 (Hart Cattle Company) for an event-high-tying and round-winning 88 points in Round 1.
Paired with Elkins 093 (Philip Elkins) in the second round, Silva roared out of the chutes for 86 points to keep the top spot atop the leaderboard.
His first American event win netted him a critical 59 Velocity Global points.
In second was Leonardo Castro Ferreira (Cassilandia, Brazil).
After covering Tip It (Richardson Land & Cattle Co) for 83 points in Round 1, he shot up the leaderboard in Round 2 by riding Old Spice (Dallas Schott) for 85.5 points.
The flawless performance earned the Brazilian 41.5 Velocity Global points.
Thiago Salgado (Navirai, Brazil) also went 2-for-2 and finished tied for third with Lane Nobles (West, Texas).
In the opening round, the Brazilian rode Rafter H 932 (Rafter H Rodeo Livestock) for 80 points.
Knowing he needed a strong performance to rise in the standings, Salgado rocketed out of the gate atop Rocky (Dallas Schott) in the final go for a round-winning 88 points.
The bronze finish and round win earned Salgado 33.5 Velocity Global points.
Nobles began his perfect evening with an 85.5-point ride on Rafter H 277 (Rafter H Rodeo Livestock) before closing his outing with an 82.5-point performance on Elkins 876 (Philip Elkins).
Cassio Dias (Sao F. de Sales Brazil), Julio Cesar Marques (Tatui, Brazil) and Keyshawn Whitehorse (McCracken Spring, Utah) all finished tied for fifth, going 2-for-2.
Ranked No. 2 in the Unleash The Beast standings, Dias rode CMSR-2028 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for 79 points in Round 1 before rallying and shooting up the standings with an 84.5-point outing on Razor (Dallas Schott).
Marques, who is ranked No. 7 in the UTB standings, topped Hunter (Richardson Land & Cattle Co) for 84 points in Round 1 and Elkins 787 (Philip Elkins) for 79.5 points in the final round.
Whitehorse was the final rider to reach a perfect 2-for-2, riding Rafter H 015 (Rafter H Rodeo Livestock) for 78.5 points in the first round before covering Monstrosity (Nuckols/Ogden/Hart) for 85 points in Round 2.
Dias left Cowtown Coliseum with 22 Velocity Global points, while Marques and Whitehorse garnered 23 Velocity Global points.
Both Time Traveler (Dallas Schott) and Big Chew (Hillcrest Bucking Bulls/Gene Baker/Richardson Land & Cattle Co) were marked 44.5 points to split the Bull of the Event title.
