Missouri Thunder’s Rossetto finishes third.

By Andrew Hatfield

FORT WORTH, Texas – At the forty-second iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Alex Cerqueira (Iguatemi, Brazil) went a perfect 2-for-2 to win the event buckle.

A protected rider for the Freedom during the 2023 PBR Teams season, Cerqueira began his flawless evening with an 87.5-point ride aboard Lock ‘n Load (Flying S/5S Ranch).

Looking for his first event win of the individual campaign, the Brazilian roared out of the chutes on Ground Assault (Stockyards/444/Winston/Melton Bull Co) for an event-high 89 points, putting him out of reach from the rest of the field.

The veteran’s victory garnered him 62 Velocity Global points.

In second place was Leandro Zampollo (Pirassununga, Brazil).

After finishing third in Round 1 with an 85-point outing on Rafter H 213 (Rafter H rodeo livestock), the Brazilian locked in for the final round.

Still searching for his first PBR win, Zampollo rocketed out of the gate atop Train Station (Stockyards Pro Rodeo/Winston/Melton Bull Co) for an impressive 88 points, catapulting him into second place.

The twenty-two-year-old left Cowtown Coliseum with a critical 45 Velocity Global points courtesy of his second-place performance.

Missouri Thunder rookie Paulo Eduardo Rossetto (Colorado, Brazil) took third place Thursday evening.

Rossetto, who has made the 8 at least once in all four 2024 Unleash The Beast events this season, made it look easy on White Face (Flying S/Pedra Bucking Bulls) in Round 1 for 84.5 points.

He remained perfect on Crash Cart (Stockyards Pro Rodeo/Winston/Melton Bull Co) in Round 2 to move up to third.

The Brazilian netted 32 Velocity Global points for his bronze finish.

Fourth place belonged to Guilherme Valleiras (Pirassununga, Brazil).

Hanging onto Rafter H 115 (Rafter H Rodeo Livestock) for 81 points in the opening round, the Brazilian cowboy became the last rider to go a perfect 2-for-2 after covering JAG Metals Tucker Brown (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for 84.5 points in the final round.

Valleiras returned home with a critical 28 Velocity Global points.

Rounding out the Top 5 was Marco Ortiz (Mexico City, Mexico).

After finishing second in Round 1 by riding Barracuda (Flying S/5S Ranch) for 86.5 points, Ortiz turned to Western Hauler (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) as his last animal athlete opponent.

After a brief duel, the powerful bovine competitor got the edge, unseating the Mexican cowboy in 2.79 seconds.

By finishing fifth, Ortiz gained 18 Velocity Global points.

Bucking in sync with his cowboy compatriot, Ground Assault was marked 44 points during Cerqueira’s event-high performance in Round 2, earning the animal athlete the Bull of the Event title.

The PBR Stockyards Showcase returns on Thursday, December 28. Action inside Cowtown Coliseum will get underway at 7:30 p.m. CT.
