FORT WORTH, Texas – At the forty-third iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Cort McFadden (Novice, Texas) was the only rider to go a perfect 2-for-2 to win the event buckle.
A Reserve Rider for the PBR Teams’ back-to-back regular-season champion Austin Gamblers, McFadden got out to an early lead in Round 1, covering PBC 13H (Platinum Bull Co) for an event-high 86.5 points.
Now in a groove, the young Texan locked in aboard Flinn 43H (Eli Flinn) for 73 points to secure the golden finish.
McFadden returned home with a crucial 51 Velocity Global points.
Leandro Zampollo (Pirassununga, Brazil), Jean Fernandes Pereira (Crixas, Brazil) and Claudio Montanha Jr. (Ribeiro dos Indios, Brazil) all went 1-for-2 to split second place.
Zampollo got off to a strong start by covering On Da Juice (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) for 84 points in Round 1, but he was bucked off by Flinn 035 (Eli Flinn) in 2.55 seconds in Round 2.
For his runner-up performance, Zampollo earned 24.8 Velocity Global points.
After being bucked off in a thrilling 7.44 seconds by Hard Rock (Braun Bucking Bulls) in Round 1, Pereira battled back, storming out of the chutes atop High Class (Flinn Cattle Co) for a round-winning 84 points in the final round.
Combined with his round win, the silver finish netted the Brazilian cowboy a crucial 28.3 Velocity Global points.
Montanha matched Zampollo aboard Billy Dean (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) for 84 points in the opening round but was unseated by Flinn 034 (D&H Cattle Co./Philip Elkins) to end his bid for the event buckle.
The veteran left Cowtown Coliseum with 24.8 Velocity Global points.
The last ride of the night belonged to Mexico’s Marco Ortiz (Mexico City, Mexico).
Ortiz made the 8 for 81 points on Elkins 601 (Philip Elkins) in Round 1 and turned to JAG Metals Grand Theft (D&H Cattle Co/Philip Elkins) for a chance at taking home the gold.
While at first, the Mexican cowboy sat tall, he was flung from his perch after 2.46 seconds. His 1-for-2 performance garnered 16 Velocity Global points.
In a dominant bullpen that allowed just six rides, CSH 814 (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) was the rankest, marked 44.5 points for his Round 1 victory over Gabriel Morais (Sao Francisco de Sales, Brazil) to win the Bull of the Event title.
