FORT WORTH, Texas – At the fortieth iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Ednelio Almeida (Caocal, Brazil) went a perfect 2-for-2 to win his event inside Cowtown Coliseum.
Almeida began his perfect showing aboard CMSR 938 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo), making the 8 for 81 points in Round 1.
Knowing he needed a big score to jump on the standings, the Nashville Stampede rider locked in for Round 2, rocketing out of the gate atop Black Sheep (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for a round-winning and event-high 87.5 points to catapult into first place.
Almeida’s Stockyard Showcase victory earned him a critical 55 Velocity Global points.
The only other ride with a flawless performance was Weston Hartman (Mandan, North Dakota), who also went 2-for-2.
Hartman hung on to 79.5 points in the opening round but shot up the leaderboard after topping Here To Party (Stockyards/Pritchett Ranch/Melton Bull Co) for 85 points in Round 2.
The North Dakotan’s perfect evening earned him a crucial 41 Velocity Global points.
The Arizona Ridge Rider’s Chase Dougherty (Decatur, Texas) finished tied for third with Marc Antonio Rizzo (Quitman, Georgia).
The pair split a Round 1 win, as the Texan rode Back Time (Young Cattle/Crooked Crown) and the Brazilian covered On Da Juice (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) for 86.5 points in Round 1.
However, the pair were unable to make the 8 in Round 2 and split a bronze finish, both leaving Cowtown Coliseum with 23 Velocity Global points.
Rounding out the Top 5 was Rubens Barbosa (Iaciara, Brazil).
The Brazilian cowboy covered Coon Eyes (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) for 85.5 points in Round 1.
Sitting in third heading into the final round, Barbosa thundered out of the gate atop Wises 101st Airborne (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) but was bucked off in a thrilling 3.42 seconds.
Barbosa returned home with 17 Velocity Global points.
Also of note were the Austin Gambler’s Cort McFadden (Novice, Texas) and Austin Richardson (Dallas, Texas).
The young McFadden topped Bloody Mary (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls) for 83 points in Round 1, while Richardson rode Nipsey (Johnson Circle 13 Ranch/Young Cattle Co) for 82.5 points.
McFadden earned 15 Velocity Global points for his sixth-place finish, while Richardson secured 12 points and finished tied for seventh.
Hard Rock (Braun Bucking Bulls) was given the Bull of the Event title after bucking off Gabriel Silva Morais (Sao Francisco de Sales, Brazil) in 3.48 seconds in Round 1.
