FORT WORTH, Texas – At the thirty-eighth iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Davi Henrique de Lima (Candido Mota, Brazil) went a perfect 2-for-2 to bring home the victory.
In Round 1, Lima topped TJU 12-0 (Julian Cattle) for 75 points, placing him seventh entering the final round.
Locking in, the Brazilian shot out of the chutes on Too Tall (Eli & Michelle Flinn) for 83.5 points in Round 2, catapulting to the top of the leaderboard.
The Arizona Ridge Riders Reserve Rider’s first win of the season netted him 42.5 Velocity Global points.
Texan Garrett Jones (Devers, Texas) finished second, going 1-for-2.
After being bucked off Common Denominator (Scott Burruss) in a heart-stopping 7.68 seconds in Round 1, the cowboy battled back to win Round 2 by covering Flinn 002 (Eli Flinn) for an event-high 86.5 points.
The silver finish earned Jones a crucial 36 Velocity Global points.
Lane Vaughan (Klamath Falls, Oregon) also went 1-for-2 and finished third.
The Oregonian won Round 1 by riding Big Chew (Dakota Rodeo/Troy Bradshaw) for 85 points.
With his first event buckle of the season in his sights, Vaughan rocketed out of the gate aboard Deplorabull (Winston Bucking Bulls/Melton Bull Co.) in Round 2, but he was unseated after 5.11 seconds.
The cowboy returned home with 26 Velocity Global points for his efforts Thursday night.
Making his PBR debut, Zane Monnett (Glendale, Utah) finished fourth.
The 19-year-old began his PBR career by topping UR 02F (Scott Burruss) for 84.5 points in the opening round, putting the young gun second entering Round 2.
Now looking to make a statement by winning in his debut, Monnett thundered out of the gate on Margi Boy (Dakota Rodeo/Troy Bradshaw) but was bucked off after a hard-fought 6.99 seconds.
The teenage cowboy earned his first 20 Velocity Global points in his debut.
Rounding out the Top 5 was a three-way tie between 2002 PBR World Champion Ednei Caminhas (Indaiatuba, Brazil), Carlos Gomes Junior (Carmo de Minas, Brazil) and Mauricio Gulla Moreira (Gaviao Peixoto, Brazil).
Both Gomes and Moreira converted in Round 1, as the former rode Undraftable (Nothin But Try Ranch/Booth Bucking Bulls) and the latter topped UR-7 (Scott Burruss) for 84 points.
However, why both cowboys were bucked off in Round 2, Caminhas battled back to match them on the leaderboard.
The 48-year-old cowboy sat tall on CMSR 967 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for the requisite 8, scoring 84 points of his own in the final round.
Caminhas earned 17 Velocity Global points for his performance, while both Gomes and Moreira left Cowtown Coliseum with 15.5 points.
