WORCESTER, Mass. – For the eighth time in the sport’s history, PBR’s Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour will buck into Worcester, Massachusetts, returning to DCU Center on February 24-25, 2024 with PBR Worcester.
Following the overwhelming enthusiasm and demand for PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour events in Worcester, including single-day sold out shows the past four years, the organization expanded the competition to be two days in February 2024. PBR Worcester will be met with added significance as the PBR’s lone event in Massachusetts during the 2024 individual season.
For two days only, some of the best bull riders in the world will battle the sport’s rankest bovine athletes in the ultimate showdown of man vs. beast in one of the most exciting live sporting events to witness.
PBR’s return to Worcester comes on the spurs of one of the organization’s most dynamic individual seasons in 2023, as the Velocity Tour broke and reset numerous attendance and competition records en-route to its most successful season to date.
The upcoming PBR Worcester will mark the seventeenth event of the new individual season for the PBR’s expansion series. Eventgoers will watch riders vie for crucial points in the race to be crowned the 2024 PBR Velocity Tour Champion.
When PBR’s Velocity Tour was last in Worcester in February 2023, Brandon McDowell (Hopwood, Pennsylvania) reached a crucial career milestone winning his career-first event with the PBR.
In the opening round of action, McDowell was tasked with Crazed Addiction (Cornwell Bucking Bulls). Remaining in perfect time with the animal athlete, McDowell reached the whistle for an event-best 84 points.
Despite being upended in the championship round, tossed by Train Station (Cornwell Bucking Bulls) in 2.95 second, the 22-year-old’s Round 1 score was enough to cement his victory and bring McDowell 108 Velocity Global points.
Other past Worcester event winners include Casey Coulter (2022, Kirksville, Missouri); Tye Chandler (2020; Celina, Texas); Daniel Tinsman (2019; Farmland Indiana), Juan Carlos Contreras (2018; Huichapan, Mexico), Emilio Resende (2017; Santa Helena, Brazil), Winston Lopez (2016; Bandera, Texas), and Austin Meier (2015; Kinta, Oklahoma).
The bull riding action for PBR Worcester begins with Round 1 at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, February 24, followed by Round 2 and the championship round at 2:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 25. All 40 competing bull riders will get on one bull each in Round 1. The Top 36 riders from Round 1 will advance to Round 2 Sunday afternoon. The riders’ individual two-round scores will be totaled with the Top 10 advancing to the championship round for one more out and a chance at the event title.
