BANGOR, Maine – The PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour returns to Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine, for the ninth consecutive season March 8-10, 2024, for PBR Bangor.
For one incredible weekend, the world’s best bull riders will take part in thrilling David vs. Goliath matchups against powerful bovine competitors born to buck in one of the most exciting and unpredictable live sporting events to witness.
Last year in front of an electric Cross Insurance Center crowd, young Dakota Eagleburger (Fair Grove, Missouri) emerged victorious, going 3-for-4 during the three-day event.
After finishing sixth in Round 1 thanks to an 81.5-point ride on Sergeant Matt, the Missourian climbed up the leaderboard by topping Empty Glass for 83 points to finish second in Round 2.
Despite losing the rope in Round 3, Eagleburger rallied in the final round, roaring out of the gate atop Flashbang for 87.5 points to secure his victory.
Other past PBR Bangor event winners include Brandon Davis (2022), Michael Lane (2021), Stetson Lawrence (2020), Lawson Nobbs (2019), Colten Jesse (2018), Robson Aragao (2017) and Reese Cates (2016).
Josh Frost (Randlett, Utah) was crowned the 2023 PBR Velocity Tour Champion, concluding the season 113.5 points ahead of runner-up Claudio Montanha Jr. (Ribeirao dos Indios, Brazil). The pair dueled back and forth until the final outs of the season at the tour’s Finals in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Shortly after being crowned the Velocity Tour Champion, Frost was taken by the Carolina Cowboys with the second overall pick in the 2023 PBR Teams Draft.
PBR Bangor marks the 20th stop of the 2024 campaign and is one of just two three-day Velocity Tour events. In 2023, the expansion tour hosted more than 289,000 fans, setting 21 event attendance records while selling out 17 events.
The bull riding action for PBR Bangor begins at 8 p.m. EST on Friday, March 8, 7:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, March 9 and 2 p.m. EST on Sunday, March 10 at Cross Insurance Center.
Forty-five bull riders will get on one bull in Round 1 on Friday and Round 2 on Saturday evening. Sunday will feature the Top 30 riders from Round 1 and 2; the riders’ individual three-round scores will then be totaled, with the Top 15 advancing to the championship round for one more out and a chance at the event title.
