FORT WORTH, Texas – At the thirty-seventh iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Gabriel Morais (Sao Francisco de Sales, Brazil) rode supreme to win his first event buckle in the United States.  

The Brazilian got off to a hot start, winning Round 1 by riding Brutal Player (Mason Bucking Bulls) for an event-high 86.5 points.

Looking to put the event out of reach, Morais burst out of the gate on Black Sheep (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) in the final round but was bucked off in 6.95 seconds.

After the dust settled Thursday night, Morais still stood atop the leaderboard, earning 46 Velocity Global points.

Right on his spurs was the Kansas City Outlaws’ star Cassio Dias (Sao F. de Sales, Brazil) and Joao Gabriel Saran, who tied for second place.

Both riders bounced back after Round 1 buckoffs, as Dias covered Rafter H-306 (Rafter H Rodeo) and Saran topped CMSR 938 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for a round-high 85.5 points in Round 2.

Both cowboys left Cowtown Coliseum with a critical 29.5 Velocity Global points.

Fourth place belonged to Julio Cesar Marques (Tatui, Brazil), who also went 1-for-2.

Dias’s teammate on the Outlaws, the young gun posted an 85-point ride aboard Sun Devil (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) in Round 1 but was unseated in 2.49 seconds by Rafter H B122 (Rafter H Rodeo) in the final round.

The Brazilian returned home with a crucial 20 Velocity Global points.

Ednelio Almeida (Cacoal, Brazil) finished fifth, earning 17 Velocity Global points for his 1-for-2 performance.

The Nashville Stampede Reserve Rider converted for 81 points on The Shining (Rafter G Rodeo Co) but failed to make the 8 in Round 2.

In the bullpen, Chigger (Mason Bucking Bulls) and X-Factor (Rafter G Rodeo Co) split the Bull of the Event title. Chigger was marked 44 points after unseating Adilson Junior (Salto de Pirapora, Brazil) in 7.74 seconds in Round 1, while X-Factor matched him by toppling Dias in 2.03 seconds in the opening round.

The PBR Stockyards Showcase returns on Thursday, November 2. Action inside Cowtown Coliseum will get underway at 7:30 p.m. CT.
