With the electric 5-on-5 PBR Camping World Team Series set to conclude the 2023 regular season slate in Fort Worth, Texas, for the second-ever Rattler Days Oct. 6-8 as Dickies Arena will host the best bull riders in the world and the Texas Rattlers look to take advantage of its hometown crowd:
LEGEND VS. ROOKIE OF THE YEAR LEAD MVP RACE: 2022 PBR Teams MVP Jose Vitor Leme currently holds a 170.25-point lead in the MVP standings over Kansas City rookie Cassio Dias heading into the final event of the season. After an uncharacteristic performance at the 2023 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast in May (where he still finished in the Top 10), Leme has once again ascended to the top of the bull riding world, leading the PBR Camping World Team Series field with 18 rides in 26 outs (69.2%) this season, including a league-leading six walk-off game-winning rides. The only rider who is within reach of Leme is Dias, who has already secured the Rookie of the Year title and, if he can string together another perfect weekend, has the opportunity to dethrone Leme in the MVP race. Dias has the highest riding percentage among riders with at least 10 outs (16-for-22, 72.7%) and is tied with Leme with five 90-point rides this season, three more than the next closest competitor. Leme and the Austin Gamblers (take on the Nashville Stampede (9-16) on Friday, while Dias and the Kansas City Outlaws hope to eliminate the Arizona Ridge Riders from earning a bye in the second game of Rattler Days.
RIDING DOWN HISTORY: Three-time PBR World Champion Silvano Alves currently has 499 career rides, just one ride short of becoming the fourth rider in PBR history to record 500 rides on the premier series or PBR Teams, trailing only Guilherme Marchi (635), J.B. Mauney (538) and Mike Lee (525). Alves went 1-for-3 in Glendale, covering Ah Hell for 86.75 points to outduel Arizona’s Eduardo Aparecido, stealing a victory for the Nashville Stampede in the last game of Day 1 of Ridge Rider Days. In his third attempt at ride 500, Alves shared the chute with a familiar foe in Game 3 against the Austin Gamblers on Friday, True Religion, who he topped for 87 points at Gambler Days in August.
