ANAHEIM, Calif. – As the third event of the 2023 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Camping World Team Series season got underway in Anaheim, California, on Saturday night, the Austin Gamblers remained perfect with a flawless 6-0 season while the Kansas City Outlaws continued their hot streak, winning their fourth consecutive game.
In the first matchup of the night, Oklahoma Freedom bested the Missouri Thunder in a down-to-the-wire one-point game. Key scores were courtesy of Oklahoma’s Elizmar Jeremias and 18-year-old Missouri rising talent Kade Madsen.
Having just celebrated an energetic win at their second annual homestand one week prior, Kansas City kept their consecutive win streak alive with a 1.25-point win over the Nashville Stampede to sweep their fourth game win courtesy of standout rides from Cassio Dias and Koltin Hevalow.
The Texas Rattlers edged the Arizona Ridge Riders 172.5-172.25 to log their third win of the season, with Daniel Keeping and Joao Ricardo Vieira adding critical scores to the team’s total.
The Gamblers’ perfection over the Carolina Cowboys, 263.5-87.75, resulted from Ramon de Lima and Lucas Divino making the whistle before closer Jose Vitor Leme swept the night. In just a few short weeks, the Austin team has made a statement, looking unbeatable as they bid for a 2023 Championship title.

SCORE BULLETINS
Freedom Victorious, Defeating the Thunder by One Point on Opening Night of PBR Camping World Team Series Action in Anaheim
Oklahoma Freedom: 89.25
Missouri Thunder: 88.25
As the night got underway for the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Camping World Team Series event in Anaheim, California, the Oklahoma Freedom defeated the Missouri Thunder by one point.
In the opening frame, Missouri looked to Joao Lucas Campos (Porto Feliz, Brazil), while the Freedom turned to Team Captain Eli Vastbinder (Statesville, North Carolina). First out of the chutes, Campos was unsuccessful atop Black Gold (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls), while Vastbinder, who was paired with against Hank The Tank (Less Than 8 Cattle Co.), received a re-ride.
In the second matchup of the night, both the Freedom and Thunder fell short of the whistle. Missouri’s Felipe Furlan’s (Sales Oliveira, Brazil) time aboard Sweet Train (D&H Cattle Co/ Gordon/ OK Corralis) was bittersweet at 7.69 seconds, while Oklahoma’s Alex Cerqueira (Iguatemi, Brazil), who is competing despite having a broken right leg, was bucked off by Rodeo Thug (Farris Cattle/ Big Shott Rodeo/ Garcia Rodeo Bulls) in 3.08 seconds.
Hoping to be the first team on the board with points, Missouri’s Paulo Eduardo Rosseto (Colorado, Brazil) took on Cut A Rug (Humpz and Hornz) at the top of the third frame. As the clock stopped at 7.27 seconds, coaches Luke Snyder and Ross Coleman threw a challenge flag. After a lengthy review, the challenge was declined, leaving them still at zero points on the board. In the bottom of the third, Oklahoma’s Elizmar Jeremias (Anapu, Brazil), paired with Dirty Dave (Diamond Bar Cattle), became the first athlete from either team to convert. His 89.25-point score put them in the lead as teammate Vastbinder readied for his re-ride. Matched with Lights Out (Hawkins Bucking Bulls/ Premier Ag), the Freedom captain was unable to cling to the powerful animal athlete.
For the game’s penultimate frame, Missouri looked to Luke Parkinson (Denman, New South Wales, Australia) as he matched with Rump Thumper (M Rafter E/ High View Cattle), while Oklahoma put its faith in Thiago Salgado (Navirai, Brazil) for his trip atop Hostile (Diamond Bar Cattle/ L&B Bucking Bulls). Neither was able to convert.
As the fifth and final frame got underway, 18-year-old Kade Madsen (Honeyville, Utah) was in a must-ride position for Missouri. Madsen was down to the wire on the chute clock for his pairing with Past Midnight (Humpz and Hornz). The powerful bovine exploded from the chutes, but judges awarded the young Utah man a re-ride. The perpetual closer for Oklahoma, Derek Kolbaba (Walla Walla, Washington), was sent flying by Try Me (D&H Cattle Co.) in 5.67 seconds, leaving the door open for Madsen to potentially win the game. The Thunder’s rising star was confidently in control, besting his re-ride partner Ah Hell (Cooper/ Scruggs Bucking Bulls). Anxiously awaiting his score in the wings with hopes of overtaking the Freedom, his face showed his frustration as his 88.25-point score was announced, giving the Freedom an 89.25-88.25 victory.
As the PBR Camping World Team Series in Anaheim continues on Sunday, Aug. 13, the Oklahoma Freedom will look to earn their second consecutive win in California when they play the Nashville Stampede, while the Missouri Thunder try to reverse their fortunes when they go head-to-head with the Arizona Ridge Riders.
“This win in Anaheim feels awesome. It felt like it was a quick turnaround to get from Kansas City last weekend to California this weekend,” Oklahoma Freedom Head Coach Cord McCoy said. “This quick two-day event means that every single game will count. We feel like how we finished last year is still on everyone’s mind, and that is not how this year will end. We plan to stay focused, keep clocking in and keep doing our job. It is really cool to see a family of guys like ours come together and get a win because it seems like every game, somebody new steps up on our team.”
Outlaws Continue to Bring The Heat, Winning First Game of the PBR Camping World Team Series in Anaheim Against Stampede
Kansas City Outlaws: 176
Nashville Stampede: 174.75
Following an electric win at their homestand event just one week ago, the Kansas City Outlaws continued to bring the heat on Saturday evening in Anaheim, California. The team defeated the Nashville Stampede by a mere 1.25 points on the opening night of action for PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Camping World Team Series competition.
After both teams exchanged buckoffs in the first frame, with Wingson Henrique da Silva (Navirai, Brazil) aboard Brusta (Joe & Nina Webb/ Julian/ D&H Cattle Co) coming up short for Kansas City and Bruno Carvalho (Alvares Florence, Brazil) aboard Whiskey Throttle (Farris Cattle/ Big Schott Rodeo) unsuccessful for the Stampede, the intensity and focus doubled in the second. In the top of the second frame, Cassio Dias (Sao F de Sales, Brazil) was electric for the Outlaws, covering Magic Harbor (D&H Cattle Co) for 88.5 points to give Kansas City an early lead. The scoreboard went unchanged following the Stampede’s second out, as Matt Triplett (Canton, South Dakota) was bested by No Cigar (D&H Cattle Co/ Payson Parker) in 5.18 seconds.
In the third, Kansas City looked to Marcus Mast (Middlebury, Indiana), while Ednelio Almeida (Cacoal, Brazil) was up for Nashville. Mast, trying to continue the Outlaws’ momentum, was bucked off by Bank Roll (Cooper/ Scruggs Bucking Bulls) in just 1.98 seconds. The Stampede could not celebrate following Almeida’s out, as the Brazilian rider was bested by DirtyBru (D&H Cattle Co/ Gordon/ OK Corralis) in 3.62 seconds.
In the top of the fourth, Kansas City’s Koltin Hevalow (Smithville, Missouri) extended the Outlaws’ lead after collecting 87.5 points aboard Cherry Bomb (Julio Moreno Bucking Bulls). Newly signed Alan de Souza (Taubate, Brazil) was then in a must-ride position for the Stampede as he climbed aboard Pain Killer (Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls). The young Brazilian went down to the wire on the chute clock but launched through the air to put 87.5 points on the board for Nashville.
The fifth frame saw Outlaws rider Leonardo Castro Ferreira (Cassilandia, Brazil) take on Boo Man (D&H Cattle Co/ Craig Moore) while three-time PBR World Champion Silvano Alves (Pilar do Sul, Brazil) was paired with Hell Storm (Julio Moreno/ Bar CB) to potentially clinch the game in Nashville’s favor. While Ferreira was unable to convert, the six-million-dollar man Alves showcased his champion ways, making the whistle. Kansas City Outlaws Head Coach J.W. Hart instantly challenged, alleging a slap, but after review, Alves’s ride was deemed qualified, collecting 87.25 points. The closing effort was not enough to advance the Stampede, leaving Kansas City again victorious with a final game score of 176-174.75.
Eager to continue their red-hot season, the Kansas City Outlaws will play the Austin Gamblers when the PBR Camping World Team Series in Anaheim continues on Sunday, Aug. 13, while the now 0-6 Nashville Stampede will attempt to win their first game when they play the Oklahoma Freedom.
“Our team is extremely excited with everything that the Outlaws have been doing this season. The wins are better than the losses,” Kansas City Assistant Coach Guilherme Marchi said. “We have been working very hard at home. Our riders are really trying to reset their mind. This win is good, but tomorrow is another day, and we plan to put more scores on the board.”
Rattlers Defeat the Ridge Riders on Opening Night of PBR Camping World Team Series Action in Anaheim to Improve to 3-3 in 2023
Texas Rattlers: 172.5
Arizona Ridge Riders: 172.25
The Texas Rattlers, presented by Ariat, improved to 3-3 in 2023 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Camping World Team Series competition Saturday evening, beginning action in Anaheim with a 172.5-172.25 victory over the regional home team Arizona Ridge Riders.
In the opening frame, Ridge Rider and reigning PBR Canada Champion Nick Tetz (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) was the first out of the chutes paired with July (Leffew Bucking Bulls) but was tossed to the ground short of the whistle. Rattlers seasoned veteran Joao Ricardo Vieira (Itatinga, Brazil) answered the call with an 86-point ride atop Shot In The Dark (Leffew Bucking Bulls/ Meza).
In the top of the second frame, Chase Dougherty (Decatur, Texas) put the first points on the board for Arizona, conquering Baraka (M Rafter E Bucking Bulls) for 86.75 points. The 8-second effort was unmatched by Texas, as the bottom of the second featured a 4.88-second buckoff by Brady Fielder (Clermont, Queensland, Australia).
In the top of the third frame, Vitor Losnake (Bauru, Brazil), known for his consistent 90-point deliveries when needed, stepped up to the chutes for his matchup with Bruisin’ (Leffew Bucking Bulls). Collecting 85.5 points, he pushed the Ridge Riders into the lead. With instant pressure to turn up the heat, the bottom of the third saw Rattlers’ player Dawson Gleaves (Amarillo, Texas) take on Kamikaze (Humpz and Hornz / ET Cattle). The previously unridden animal athlete showcased his supreme energy, launching the Texan to the dirt.
With the lead at the top of the fourth, Arizona Team Captain Eduardo Aparecido (Gouvelandia, Brazil) stepped up to attempt to catapult the score even higher aboard Sugar Bear (M Rafter E). Unfortunately, his short ride left him with no score. The Rattlers then looked to Creek Young (Rogersville, Missouri) to get Texas a second score on the board, but he could not answer the call, tossed by Willi G (Less Than 8 Cattle Co.) in a swift 4.26 seconds.
In the top of the fifth, the Ridge Riders positioned Keyshawn Whitehorse (McCracken Spring, Utah) as their closer with the chance to clinch the win early for his team. However, Whitehorse was bucked off by Kid Knapper (Phillips/ Cooper/ Scruggs Bucking Bulls), hitting the ground in 4.68 seconds. While Whitehorse could not win the game early for Arizona, Texas found themselves in a must-ride position in the bottom of the frame as Daniel Keeping (Montague, Texas) readied to go head-to-head with Doc Holiday (M Rafter E). Keeping had the crowd at Honda Center at full volume when his 86.5-point score rolled in, with Texas leaving Honda Center Saturday night with a 172.5-172.25 victory over the Arizona Ridge Riders.
When the PBR Camping World Team Series from Anaheim continues on Sunday, Aug. 13, the Texas Rattlers will look to continue their perfect weekend when they play the Carolina Cowboys, while the Arizona Ridge Riders hope to shake off the Saturday night loss when they compete against the Missouri Thunder.
“It feels good to have a win, but like I told the guys, it feels good to win, but it feels better to dominate,” Texas Rattlers Head Coach Cody Lambert said. “We are happy, but we still need to get better.”
Gamblers Dominate at 2023 PBR Camping World Team Series in Anaheim, Defeating the Cowboys by 175.75 Points on Opening Night at Honda Center
Austin Gamblers: 263.5
Carolina Cowboys: 87.75
The Austin Gamblers concluded the opening night of action for the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Camping World Team Series event in Anaheim with an impressive win, beating the Carolina Cowboys by 175.75 points inside Honda Center.
When the game began, the Cowboys fell short of a first-frame score as Josh Frost (Randlett, Utah) was sent airborne by Smoke Down (D&H Cattle Co) in 4.1 seconds. The Gamblers then tried to set the tone early. In the bottom of the frame, Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas) was paired with Ram Jam (M Rafter E Bucking Bulls). In what proved to be a not-so-perfect matchup, Kasel erupted from the chutes in good form with the powerful animal athlete but was dispatched at 5.59 seconds.
The second frame provided no scores as Carolina’s Trey Kimzey (Strong City, Oklahoma) was bested by Wild Bill (M Rafter E/ Owens) and Austin’s Ezekiel Mitchell (Rockdale, Texas) could not conquer Sharp Shooter (Humpz and Hornz).
With both teams looking to get scores accumulating in the third, Sandro Batista (Pedra Petra, Brazil) was unable to put Carolina on the board when he was bucked off by I’m Him (Leffew Bucking Bulls/ Meza) at 6.36 seconds. In the bottom of the third, Ramon de Lima (Rio Branco, Brazil) launched the Gamblers into the lead with his 86.5-point score aboard Red Hot (Farris Cattle/ Big Shott Rodeo/ Garcia Rodeo Bulls).
The fourth frame saw 2016 PBR World Champion Cooper Davis (Jasper, Texas) successfully kick Carolina into high gear as he paired with Savage Love (Farris Cattle/ Big Shott Rodeo). Following Davis’s 87.75- point ride, Austin’s Lucas Divino (Nova Crixas, Brazil) was back in the driver’s seat of the frame as he prepared for his showdown with Taylor’s Cowtown Throwdown (Farris Cattle/ Big Shott Rodeo/ Triple T Livestock). Despite a challenge by Carolina, Divino’s ride was deemed qualified as his 88.25-point score raised the Gamblers’ score to 174.75.
As the last round of rides got underway, Carolina looked to 2022 PBR World Champion Daylon Swearingen (Piffard, New York) to keep the Cowboys’ hopes of victory alive. The New Yorker, however, couldn’t rise to the occasion, thrust to the ground in a hard-fought 3.56 seconds by Grey Smoke (Farris Cattle/ Big Shott Rodeo). While the Cowboys’ buckoff clinched the win for the Gamblers, the team still had one out remaining as two-time PBR World Champion Jose Vitor Leme (Ribas do Rio Pardo, Brazil) faced off with Short Circuit (D&H Cattle/ McWhorter). In his signature form, the first-round draft pick soared through the air for 88.75 points to further the win for Austin with a final score of 263.5-87.75.
The Gamblers will look to earn their second win when they take on the red-hot Kansas City Outlaws on Sunday, Aug. 13, while the Carolina Cowboys will chase their first win in Honda Center when they play the Texas Rattlers, presented by Ariat.
“We started this game on shaky ground, and I kind of boasted a little bit last weekend about riding four out of five bulls,” Austin Gamblers Head Coach Michael Gaffney said. “Our team was really close to that goal. Dalton and Zeke both started great rides. They just didn’t quite get them finished, and you’ve gotta make the whistle. Three out of five isn’t bad. We will take the win and come back for another one tomorrow.”
