KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Ahead of the return of Outlaw Days, the three-day homestand for the city’s first-ever professional bull riding team, the Kansas City Outlaws, on Aug. 3-5, the organization today announced a free-to-attend, family-friendly street festival to be held in tandem with the event.
The Outlaw Days Festival will celebrate the modern cowboy by day, bringing eventgoers an immersive experience filled with bulls, barbeque, and beer, before transitioning into a disco cowboy extravaganza by night.
The festival, held in partnership with the Power & Light District, will take over 14th Street and Grand Street while also bringing programming to two stages – the PBR’s mobile Tractor Supply Co. Stage and the fan-favorite stage within KC Live!.
The unique three-day festival will be emceed by Mix 93.3 host and Kansas City Chiefs gameday DJ Steve Serrano. Serrano is the latest member of the Chiefs to unite with the Kansas City Outlaws, joining Super Bowl Champion starting center Creed Humphrey, who was recently announced as the team’s Official Fan Ambassador and Chief of Outlaw Attitude.
Each day, festivalgoers will be brought a variety of musical programming, highlighting a variety of local talent from the Kansas City area. Performers include rising Kansas City country rock artist Ali Marie, resident DJ for PBR Big Sky DJ Mitchell Hayes, self-branded Kansas City country artist Sequoia Newland, DJ Parle, official DJ for the Kansas City Royals and Sporting Kansas City DJ Hydan, Kansas City’s premier country band Hudson Drive, and Kansas City acoustic duo Dallas & Janell.
The Outlaw Days Festival will also include several Future Boy Entertainment shows featuring the likes of magician and trick roper Rudy Uresti, contortionist and foot archer Orissa Kelly, and hula-hooping fire aerialist Grace Good.
Complimenting the talent-packed lineup of entertainment will be a host of can’t-miss events headlined by the Kansas City Outlaws and their local partners. Among these moments, on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 2 p.m., Outlaw Days Festival attendees will be able to take in a chat with a Jack Stack Barbeque pitmaster, complete with sampling, followed by the Jack Stack Barbeque Eating Competition at 3:30 p.m. The competition will include a fan representative from each of the PBR Team’s eight founding teams going head-to-head for a prize pack including a $250 Jack Stack Barbeque gift card, custom Kansas City Outlaws hat and buckle, Humphrey-autographed merchandise and more.
Earlier that day, fans will also be able to get up close and personal with the Outlaws for an intimate meet-and-greet with the bull riders at 12:30 p.m. on the Tractor Supply Co. Stage, followed by the team’s formal sendoff into Championship Saturday competition at 4 p.m.
Complimenting the Outlaws’ team programming, fans can interact with star bull riders on several of the league’s other teams, including the Outlaws’ instate rivals, the Missouri Thunder, at their activations throughout the festival.
Prior to the sendoff, at 1 p.m., fans can join stars of the critically acclaimed Prime Video docuseries The Ride in the Amazon Viewing Lounge for a unique viewing experience of the hit eight-part show chronicling the first season of PBR Teams.
Additionally, attendees will be able to engage with a variety of local makers, including Cosmic Cowgirl, who will be on hand making custom cowboy hats, Jack Stack BBQ, Deep Eddy Vodka, Una Vida Tequila and more.
