Austin Gamblers announce 2023 PBR Teams game schedule

Austin to face off against the Kansas City Outlaws, Texas Rattlers, Oklahoma Freedom during team’s second-annual homestand at Moody Center on Aug. 25-27.

By Kacie Albert

AUSTIN, Texas – Ahead of the second season for the ground-breaking PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Teams league, the Austin Gamblers, one of two Texas-based professional bull riding teams, today announced their 2023 game schedule.

The 2023 PBR Teams season will include a three-day homestand hosted by each of the eight founding teams, accompanied by two, two-day neutral site events. During event days, each of the league’s eight founding teams will compete in one five-on-five bull riding game against another team, with each team competing in 28 games throughout the regular season. The PBR Teams Championship returns to T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on October 20-22.

The Austin Gamblers will hold their second-annual homestand, and fifth event of the regular-season, Gambler Days, on Aug. 25-27 at Moody Center. During their event, they will play the Kansas City Outlaws (Aug. 25), Texas Rattlers (Aug. 26) and Oklahoma Freedom (Aug. 27).

During the regular season, the Gamblers will compete in a rivalry series with their home state opponent in the Texas Rattlers.

In a battle for the Lone Star State, the Gamblers will play the Rattlers on Aug. 4 in Kansas City, Missouri; Aug. 26 during the second night of their Gamblers Day homestand; Sept. 10 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Oct. 7 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Throughout the campaign, the Gamblers will also play the reigning PBR Teams Champion Nashville Stampede four times as they look to bring the title to Austin this October.

Every game during the season will be carried by CBS, including seven “Game of the Week” broadcasts, CBS Sports Network or Pluto TV. The Austin Gamblers will be featured in one Game of the Week broadcast. Their telecast will highlight their rivalry showdown with the Texas Rattlers in Austin, airing on Aug. 27.

The Austin Gamblers will return to the arena this summer keen to win their first PBR Teams Championship.

In 2022, the team delivered a torrid regular season, going 16-12 in game play to advance to the Championship as the league’s No. 1 seed. Despite stumbling in the championship, eliminated by the eventual 2022 PBR Teams Champion Nashville Stampede, the Gamblers delivered one of the most consistent regular-season efforts.

Along with being the first team to win multiple, let alone back-to-back events, dominating in both Anaheim, California, and Nashville, Tennessee, the Gamblers won a then record-setting eight consecutive games during the early weeks of the season. Gamblers’ sensation Jose Vitor Leme also rode to the first PBR Teams MVP title, finishing the regular-season 189 points ahead of runner-up Daylon Swearingen.

The surprising twists and turns of the league’s inaugural season were captured in the critically acclaimed docuseries, The Ride, streaming now on Prime Video. The series prominently features several members of the Gamblers’ roster, including Leme, Ezekiel Mitchell and Dakota Louis.

During the offseason, Leme contended for what would have been his record-tying third PBR World Championship. While he led the world for eight weeks during the regular season and won a PBR best three Unleash The Beast events, Leme stumbled at the 2023 PBR World Finals, ultimately concluding the season No. 2 in the title battle by 287 points.

Leme was joined atop the standings by fellow Austin Gamblers rider Dalton Kasel, who finished a career-best No. 5 in the world and also returns for the 2023 season.

The remainder of the roster includes: Lucas Divino, Ramon de Lima, Austin Richardson, Adriano Salgado, Claudio Montanha Jr., Cort McFadden and Jean Pereira.

The Austin Gamblers will host their second-annual homestand, Gambler Days, in Austin, Texas, at Moody Center on Aug. 25-27. The action begins at 7:45 p.m. CT on Friday, August 25, 6:45 p.m. CT on Saturday, August 26, and 1:45 p.m. CT on Sunday, August 27.

Tickets for the event are on sale now, and start at $26 (taxes and fees not included) and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com, PBR.com and MoodyCenterATX.com, or by calling PBR customer service at 1-800-732-1727.

Three-day ticket packages are available, offering fans a 15% discount on select price levels.
