AUSTIN, Texas – After finishing No. 1 in the inaugural regular season of the ground-breaking PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Team Series, the Austin Gamblers today announced that their annual homestand, PBR Gambler Days, will return to Moody Center August 25-27.
Tickets for the event are on sale now, and start at $22 (taxes and fees not included) and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com, PBR.com and MoodyCenterATX.com, or by calling PBR customer service at 1-800-732-1727.
The Gamblers are Austin’s first-ever professional bull riding team, competing in the PBR Team Series which transforms bull riding from an individual to team-formatted competition. Going into the playoffs under the leadership of Head Coach and 1997 PBR World Champion Michael Gaffney, the Gamblers finished No. 1 in the first PBR Teams regular season with a talent-packed roster including two-time PBR World Champion Jose Vitor Leme, who won the league’s MVP award in the inaugural season, and 2019 PBR Rookie of the Year Dalton Kasel.
During the 2023 regular season, each of the eight founding teams will compete in 28 head-to-head, five-on-five bull riding games, held across 10 events. The team with the highest aggregate score will be the game winner.
Each team will host a three-day homestand, welcoming the seven other teams, while also competing in two neutral site events, beginning with the season-launch event on July 24-25 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The season will conclude in Las Vegas Oct. 20-22 when the teams will go head-to-head in the PBR Team Series Championship, vying to be crowned the Team Series Champions.
PBR Gambler Days will mark the fifth event of the 2023 PBR Team Series season, and third team-hosted homestand.
The Austin Gamblers will return to the arena this summer keen to win their first PBR Team Series Championship.
In 2022, the team delivered a torrid regular season, going 16-12 in game play to advance to the Championship as the league’s No. 1 seed. Despite stumbling in the championship, eliminated by the eventual 2022 PBR Team Series Champion Nashville Stampede, the Gamblers delivered one of the most consistent regular-season efforts.
Along with being the first team to win multiple, let alone back-to-back events, dominating in both Anaheim, California, and Nashville, Tennessee, the Gamblers won a then record-setting eight consecutive games during the early weeks of the season.
During the offseason for PBR Teams, the Gamblers riders have proved a force on the premier individual tour, the PBR Unleash The Beast. Leme currently leads the race for the 2023 PBR World Championship, which would mark his record-setting third gold buckle, and he has won a PBR-best three elite tour events.
Leme is joined inside the Top 10 in the standings by Kasel, currently No. 6 in the heated title battle. Kasel’s season has been headlined by two 15/15 Bucking Battle victories.
The Gamblers will be one of the featured bull riding teams in the highly anticipated upcoming docuseries The Ride, debuting later this year on Prime Video.
