As the PBR's Unleash The Beast prepares to invade into Tulsa, Oklahoma’s BOK Center Feb.10-11 during the tour's 11th event of the 2023 season, PBR.com is highlighting some of the series’ latest winners, top competitors and beyond as the Unleash The Beast rages on!
BACK ON TOP: By winning in Sacramento and placing second in the 15/15 Bucking Battle, two-time PBR World Champion Jose Vitor Leme skyrocketed to the No. 1 rank, Now 115.5 points above the leader for the five previous weeks, Andrew Alvidrez. The Brazilian legend went a perfect 3-for-3 last weekend, starting with an 85.5-point ride on Havoc in Round 1. The former champion saved his best for Championship Sunday, putting up 89.5 points in a dance with Lil Hott in Round 2 before closing out his 26th career elite tour win with an 87.5-point ride on The Right Stuff. In addition to his event win, Leme placed second in the 15/15 Bucking Battle by hanging on to Charmer for 86.75 points, marking the second time this season that the Brazilian champion has won an event and placed second in a Bucking Battle during the same weekend, as Leme went 3-for-3 in Chicago and placed second in the 15/15 Bucking Battle. Atop the standings, he has a Round 1 matchup against Diamond in the Rough Friday night
WINNERS RIDE HERE: Tulsa is a long-standing stop on the PBR’s top tour, where event winners have frequently been riders at the top of their game: 14 of the 18 past event winners in Tulsa have been won by a rider who now possesses a gold buckle, including seven champions who won in Tulsa before going on to being crowned the World Champion that year
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK: Tyler Manor made his Unleash The Beast debut and after an 89-point ride on Karizma in Round 1 and an 87.75-point ride atop Back Jack in Round 2, Manor would have first pick in the Championship Round. Unfortunately, he was bucked off by July in 4.17 seconds, but the Indiana native’s efforts still awarded him a sixth-place finish. In just the second UTB event of his career, Flavio Zivieri posted the high-marked ride of the event, a 90.25-point romp with the always game Manaba and finished fifth, boosting him to No. 37 in the UTB rankings with 64 points. Zivieri is slated to duel Diablo in Round 1, while Manor dances with Highwire. In addition, four of the top 12 ranked rookies recorded a qualified ride in Sacramento, as Thiago Salgado, Wingson Henrique da Silva, Sandro Batista and Wyatt Rogers all made the whistle at least once last weekend
