2023 Unleash The Beast Game Notes: Sacramento

Keeping out due to injury, Kasel looks to stay hot during third 15/15 Bucking Battle and a youthful resurgence looms heading into this weekend's action in Sacramento, California!

By Andrew Hatfield

As the PBR's Unleash The Beast bucks into Sacramento, California's Golden 1 Center Feb. 3-5 during the tour's 10 event of the 2023 season, PBR.com is highlighting some of the series’ latest winners, top competitors and beyond as the Unleash The Beast rages on!

  • CALI KASEL:

    Dalton Kasel

should be looking forward to competing in Sacramento for the third straight year, as he has dominated in The Big Tomato the past two seasons, going a perfect 7-for-7. Kasel went 3-for-3 and won the event in 2021, staying atop

    Not Today

in Round 1 for 89 points before putting up back-to-back 90-point rides in the last two rounds. He danced in perfect time with

    Sky Harbor

for 90.75 points in Round 2 before securing the victory atop

    Speed Demon

with 91 points in the championship round. Last year, the Texan continued to roll in Sacramento, as he went a perfect 4-for-4 to secure second place. Kasel took advantage of a re-ride Round 1 to dance with

    Safety Meeting

for 91 points. In Round 2 and Round 3, the rider put up solid performances atop

    Wild Eyes

    (87.5 points) and

    Yadi

(87 points) before putting up his fourth 90-point ride in Sacramento, a 90.5-point masterclass on

    WSM’s Nasty Wishes

. He'll look to build on his successful stint Friday during his Round 1 matchup against

    Juju

  • 15/15 BUCKING BATTLE: Golden 1 Center plays host to the third 15/15 Bucking Battle of the 2023 season with veteran

    Kaique Pacheco

looking to win for the second straight weekend. Pacheco secured the victory and 59 World Championship points in the special round last week in Indianapolis, moving in perfect time with

    Ricky Vaughn

for an impressive 93 points, the highest score in a Bucking Battle this season, thwarting Dalton Kasel’s back-to-back bid by one point. After an impressive 89.75-point romp atop

    Roc Wit It

to secure the first Bucking Battle win of the season in Chicago, the Texan put up an incredible 92-point ride on

    Tulsa Time

, earning 49 points toward the Unleash The Beast standings. In addition to the two 90-point rides,

    Jesse Petri

    overcame

    The Undertaker

    for 88.5 points and

    Thiago Salgado

    danced with

    Woopaa

for 88.25 points. All four riders once again compete in the special round in Sacramento this weekend

  • ROOKIES TO THE MOON: PBR rookies swept the proverbial podium last weekend in Indianapolis, as

    Daniel Keeping

wasn’t the only one to find success:

    Casey Roberts

    and

    Tate Pollmeier

both went 2-for-3 to finish second and third, respectively. After scoring 87 points on

    Little n’ Loud

in Round 1, Roberts was bucked off

    Do Dat Eddie

in 3.38 seconds in Round 2 before being the only rider to score a qualified ride in the championship round, riding

    Red Demon

for 88 points. Roberts gained 95 points towards the standings, putting him in the No. 17 spot and fourth in the Rookie of the Year race, 217 points behind Keeping. Pollmeier scored 88.25 points with an impressive dance on

    Bottom’s Up

in Round 1 before taking advantage of a re-ride to score 86.5 points on

    Mike’s Effect

in Round 2. The Kansas native came within a second of winning his first career Unleash The Beast event but was bucked off by

    Blue Duck

in 7.15 seconds in the championship round. His third-place finish shot him up the Unleash The Beast rankings to No. 18, and his 144.5 points are 217 short of Keeping and place him fifth in the Rookie of the Year race
