FORT WORTH, Texas – As the enthralling 2022 Ultimate Bullfighters (UBF) World Finals continued Friday afternoon for Pool B at the historic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, six more bullfighters left it all on the dirt as they won their head-to-head showdown and advanced in the feverish battle to be crowned the 2022 UBF World Champion and earn the accompanying $25,000 bonus.
Dylan Idleman (Madill, Oklahoma), Tucker Lane (Oak Grove, Missouri), Colby Lindsey (Calvert City, Kentucky), Noah Krepps (Jasper, Arkansas), Chance Moorman (Lytle, Texas) and Dekevis Jordan (Madill, Oklahoma) all dazzled on the dirt in Pool B, emerging as the supreme bullfighter in their man versus man throwdown to remain in the grueling seven-day tournament.
In freestyle bullfighting, a bullfighter competes for 60 seconds against a fighting bull predominantly of Spanish descent in an effort to score points for maneuvers performed during the one-minute competition. Unlike traditional bullfighting, the animals are not harmed. Bullfighters are judged solely on their ability to perform gravity-defying acrobatic stunts as close to the bull as possible without getting hit.
Pool B began with a showdown between Idleman and Greg Howard (Dozier, Alabama). While Howard was involved in a gnarly wreck with his animal athlete counterpart, Idleman began his bull fight strong, wowing the crowd with a cross jump. When the dust settled, Idleman was scored 84.5 points, advancing him with ease as Howard logged a no-score.
Putting on what seemed to be a clinic in best freestyle bullfighting practices, Lane delivered a smooth effort on the dirt to outscore Brazilian Wagner Miqueline (Zacarias, Brazil) 86.5-76.
The third round of Pool B was a contest between Lindsey and Cy Ferguson (Boyd, Texas). Despite young gun Ferguson gritting it out against his animal opponent, battling it out to the bitter end, Lindsey showed up and showed out, showcasing his veteran talent as he cruised to an 85.5-81.5 victory.
Krepps was dominant in the fourth round, gliding across the dirt as he went to work against one of UBF’s younger Mexican fighting bulls. Returning after a seven-month hiatus, Clay Moore (Belen, New Mexico) did not have enough in the tank to earn the come-from-behind win, losing to Krepps 82.5-85.
Current world No. 1 and inaugural UBF World Champion Moorman kept his hopes alive of becoming the first two-time UBF World Champion by beating Cache Dunn (Waurika, Oklahoma) 85.5-84.5, the closest showdown of Pool B.
The final matchup of the night was a shootout between Jordan and Ryan Fizer (Comanche, Texas), marking UBF’s version of the Red River Showdown. Jordan fought supreme, championing Oklahoma to victory as he outscored Fizer 82-79.5.
Friday night’s bullfighters who advanced via Pool B will join Jacorey Golden (Houston, Mississippi), Sam Marical (Ada, Oklahoma), Roper Rich (Eaton, Colorado), Zek Smith (Folkston, Georgia), Justin Martin (Weatherford, Texas) and Knox Dunn (Slaughter, Louisiana), who advanced via Pool A.
The 2022 UBF World Finals continue Saturday, December 3 at 2:00 p.m. CT when the winning bullfighters from Pool A and Pool B will go head-to-head with six matchups, automatically punching their ticket to Championship Saturday on December 10, which will crown the 2022 UBF World Champion.
