#InCaseYouMissedIt: Nashville Stampede stun to win PBR Team Series Championship

Miss a moment of the action this weekend? Here’s what happened around the PBR.

By Darci Miller

The PBR Team Series Championship is officially in the books, and man, was it a wild one. There were upsets by the handful, rank rides, joyous celebrations and heartbreaking defeats, and at the end of it all, a champion was crowned. Miss a moment of the action this weekend? Here’s what happened around the PBR.

DAY 1

The first game of the night was perhaps the biggest surprise, as the No. 8 Nashville Stampede took down the No. 3 Oklahoma Freedom.

The Stampede rallied behind their first-round draft pick Kaique Pacheco, the Ice Man, who thawed and made a fiery speech in the locker room.

It took all five rides, but the No. 4 Carolina Cowboys defeated the No. 7 Kansas City Outlaws…

thanks to a walkoff ride from their captain, Daylon Swearingen.

Eduardo Aparecido notched the only ride for the No. 5 Arizona Ridge Riders on Friday

but it was enough to defeat the No. 6 Missouri Thunder by .25 points.

In the Last Chance Game, the Freedom exploded for four rides, eliminating the Outlaws and the Thunder.

At the end of competition Friday, the Round 2 matchups were set.

After a red-hot end to the regular season, the Texas Rattlers geared up for their first game believing they could continue their momentum.

DAY 2

The Stampede again led off the night with an incredible upset, this time taking down the No. 1 Austin Gamblers

behind some magic from a guy who knows how to show up big in Las Vegas.

The second game of the night was also an upset, with the Ridge Riders defeating the No. 2 Texas Rattlers

and notching the second perfect game in league history.

After advancing through the Last Chance Game on Friday, the Freedom left nothing to chance on Saturday, defeating the Carolina Cowboys.

As Freedom head coach Cord McCoy so eloquently put it, “welcome to Championship Sunday.”

The last team to join the championship fray was the Texas Rattlers, who advanced by defeating the Cowboys and Gamblers in the Last Chance Game.

The scrappy Rattlers were led by two free agent signings, Braidy Randolph and surprise star Daniel Keeping.

And with that, the Semifinal matchups were set.

DAY 3

The Stampede capped their astounding run on Sunday, defeating the Rattlers in the Semifinals and the Ridge Riders in the title game to be crowned the inaugural PBR Team Series Champions.

This is the end of the line for Ryan Dirteater, who returns to retirement having finally won the championship he so dearly wanted.

The Rattlers finished third overall, defeating the Freedom in the Third-Place Game, and look forward to building on this season’s successes.

The Stampede weren’t the only champions to be crowned – Cool Whip and Flapjack earned ABBI Classic titles.
