TYLER, Texas – At the Cross Brand Cowboy Church Saturday evening in Tyler, Texas, Wyatt Rogers captured the Robson Palermo Invitational PBR event win via a perfect 2-for-2 performance.
In the opening round of competition, the Oklahoman first drew Sober Up. Matching the animal athlete jump-for-jump, Rogers was scored 87.5 points to begin the successful weekend.
Advancing to the championship round, the 26-year-old attempted to best Malaki but was awarded a re-ride after being initially bucked off in 4.97 seconds.
Rising to the occasion, the Carolina Cowboys’ practice squad rider made the requisite 8 aboard M.A.G.A. in his second attempt of the night. Earning a crucial 85.5 points for his effort, Rogers went on to capture his third Challenger Series event title of the year and 37 Challenger Series points with the victory.
Rogers now ranks third in the Challenger Series standings, trailing No. 1 Keyshawn Whitehorse by a mere 2.6 points.
Second was Davi Henrique de Lima, who earned 27 Challenger Series points as the only other participant to log two qualified rides.
The silver showing featured Lima recording an 83.5-point ride aboard Big Chew in Round 1.
Courtesy of a round-best 87.5-point score atop Bad Decisions in the championship round, Lima went on to clinch the second-place finish.
Finishing in third place via a monstrous ride atop Latch Party, Joao Ricardo Vieira netted 10 Challenger Series points for his event-best, 89-point outing in the opening round of action.
28-year-old Kade Alberty logged an impressive 88.5-point ride in Round 1 aboard Red Kingdom. The fourth-place result represented Alberty’s best Challenger Series finish since first joining the tour in May.
Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Marcelo Procopio Pereira. The Texas Rattlers veteran bested Johnny Rocket for 87 points in Round 1 and was awarded four Challenger Series points.
