LINCOLN, Neb. – At the third PBR (Professional Bull Riders) event in Lincoln, Nebraska, in the organization’s history, Wyatt Rogers (Coweta, Oklahoma) delivered an unrivaled Round 1-winning score to earn the victory at the Challenger Series’ Lincoln Invitational inside Pinnacle Bank Arena.
In the opening round of competition, the stoic Oklahoman first drew Airplane of Death (Rocha Bucking Bulls).
Rogers remained in perfect time with the animal athlete, reaching the whistle for a Round 1-winning, and event-high 87.5 points.
While the Carolina Cowboys practice roster rider bucked off in the championship round, upended by Slingin BB’s (Jenkins Cattle Co.) in 3.37 seconds, no rider would go 2-for-2 and his opening effort proved enough to cement the win.
Rogers also finished sixth via a double entry. His second Top 10 finish in Lincoln was headlined by an 84.5-point trip atop George’s Pride (Fabulous IV Bucking Bulls) in Round 1
Combined, Rogers left Nebraska having earned a cumulative 41 Challenger Series points.
Second was Brazilian Wellington Ferreira who netted 24 Challenger points.
The silver showing included an 87-point ride on Second Hand Smoke (Lee Bucking Stock) in Round 1.
Courtesy of an 86.5-point score on Hellboy (Barrett Bucking Stock), Dalton Krantz (Somers, Iowa) was third, garnering 13 Challenger points.
Veteran rider Michael Lane (Tazewell, Virginia) was fourth.
Lane bested Lemonade (Yount Bucking Bulls, LLC) for 86 points in Round 1 to return home having earned 8 Challenger points.
Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was hometown favorite Sage Vance (Lincoln, Nebraska).
The Lincoln-native garnered 5 Challenger points for his 85-point ride on Ferdinand (Johnson Bucking Bulls) which brought the crowd to a deafening cheer.
The PBR Challenger Series’ Lincoln Invitational was also a stop on the 2022 Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge.
Lee Bucking Stock won the performance with 365.76 points courtesy of the trips notched by High Pearl, Secondhand Smoke, Mighty Merle and Night Shift.
Second place was Barrett Bucking Stock with 364.2 points, while Robison Bucking Bulls was third with 361.37 points.
Barrett Bucking Stock’s roster included Boogieman, Thunder, Hellboy and Dark An Dangerous, while the bronze effort from Robison Bucking Bulls was earned courtesy of outs recorded by Big Shot, Wild Nights, Diamond in the Ruff and Crunch Time.
