Austin Gamblers: 175.75
Missouri Thunder: 0.00
FORT WORTH, Texas – The Austin Gamblers earned their second game win at the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Team Series event in Fort Worth, Texas, Saturday evening, defeating the scoreless Missouri Thunder as Jose Vitor Leme (Ribas do Rio Pardo, Brazil) recorded his fourth 90-point ride of the 2022 team season.
Following a scoreless first, Leandro Machado (Nova Esperanca, Brazil) was awarded a re-ride for the Thunder in the top of the second after Shake & Bake (Blake Sharp/Floyd/Utz/Farris) fell just short of the whistle. Clutching his hand, Machado indicated to coaches Ross Coleman and Luke Snyder he would be unable to attempt a second bull.
As a result, the re-ride was assigned to Alvaro Alvarez Aguilar (La Punta Lagos Moreno, Mexico).
The frame came to a close when newly inked Gambler and 2019 PBR Rookie of the Year Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas) was brought down in 2.25 seconds by Tulsa Time (Kelly & Cami Heath).
In the third, the Thunder were unable to turn their momentum as Marcelo Procopio Pereira (Rinopolis, Brazil) bucked off Rodeo Thug (Platinum Bull Company/Garcia Rodeo Bulls) in a close 6.54 seconds.
The Gamblers were first to strike in the bottom of the round. Matched with WSM’s Trail of Tears (WSM Auctioneers/Clay Struve/Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger), Ramon de Lima (Rio Branco, Brazil) reached the requisite 8 for 84 points to give Austin an early lead.
Cody Teel (College Station, Texas) again struck out for Missouri in the top of the fourth.
Following Teel’s buckoff Alvarez climbed atop re-ride draw Chiseled (Flinn/D&H Cattle Co.). The Mexican sensation, however, was no match for the YETI World Champion Bull contender, tossed to the ground in 3.12 seconds.
Via the buckoffs, in the bottom of the fourth, Austin Richardson (Dallas, Texas) had the chance to clinch the win early for the Gamblers. Squaring off with Black Cherry (Hookin W/ProVantage Animal Health), Richardson was unable to rise to the occasion, bested in 2.29 seconds.
As the fifth began, Andrew Alvidrez (Seminole, Texas) was in a must-ride position for the second consecutive night.
After leading the Thunder to victory against the Ridge Riders on Friday, Alvidrez was unable to win another game, bucked off by HomeBru (D&H Cattle Co./Buck Cattle Co.) in 5.59 seconds to deliver Austin the victory.
In what was the cherry on top of the win, two-time PBR World Champion Leme added to the Gamblers margin of victory when he dominated Montana Jacket (Berg/Coleman/Ogden) for a monstrous 91.75 points, extending his lead in the 2022 MVP race.
The win improved the Austin Gamblers to 13-11 throughout the 2022 season and to 2-0 at PBR Rattler Days. They will look to remain perfect in their final game when they play the host Texas Rattlers (12-12 | 2-0) when Championship Sunday gets underway.
The Missouri Thunder slipped to 12-12 this season and 1-1 at PBR Rattlers Days. They will be keen to conclude the seventh team-hosted homestand with a winning record when they play the Kansas City Outlaws (11-13 | 2-0) on Sunday, October 9.
