Missouri Thunder: 267.5 / Nashville Stampede: 261.75
RIDGEDALE, Mo. – In front of a hometown crowd at the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Team Series Thunder Days at Thunder Ridge Nature Arena in Ridgedale, Missouri, Cody Teel (College Station, Texas) delivered on the game’s final out, and the Missouri Thunder clinched their first win of the weekend in dramatic fashion against the Nashville Stampede, 267.5-261.75.
After getting dominated by the No. 1-ranked Carolina Cowboys on Friday night, the Thunder came into night two of the weekend with a vengeance and knocked down three rides to edge the Stampede.
After a scoreless first out from the Stampede’s Kaique Pacheco (Itatiba, Brazil), Andrew Alvidrez (Seminole, Texas) put up big numbers for the Thunder in registering the first ride of the night for 90 points aboard Eager Snake (Sho-Me Rodeo/Triple C).
Entering the second frame, Joao Henrique Lucas (Bastos, Brazil) responded quickly, putting the Stampede on the board as he covered Reckless Tested (BMC Bucking Bulls/Jenkins Cattle Co.) for 87.75 points.
Next out for the Thunder was Jesse Petri (Dublin, Texas) – but the Texas native was unable to add to the early lead after being bucked off his opponent Light’s Out (Jane Clark/Gene Owen) in 3.19 seconds. After a scoreless third frame, the Stampede looked to Thiago Salgado (Navirai, Brazil).
Salgado, who was unsuccessful in night one of Thunder Days but showed up big on Saturday, added 83.5 points to the scoreboard atop Nomad Max (Crooked Crown Bucking Bulls/Braswell Bucking Bulls). Missouri’s Cody Teel attempted to regain the Thunder’s early momentum, but was brought down in 3.86 seconds aboard Border Wall (Hale Cattle Co).
With one out left for each team, the stakes were high as the Stampede looked to Ryan Dirteater (Hurlbert, Oklahoma). Dirteater, who found himself in a re-ride situation with a broken boot Friday night, was met with a similar situation earning a re-ride opportunity after attempting to ride Cookie Monster (Universal Pro Rodeo).
Meanwhile, the Thunder needed to score in excess of 81.25 points to take the lead. Adriano Salgado (Batatais, Brazil) remained red-hot aboard Dang, Dang (Braswell Buckers) as he reached the 8, earning 89.25 to give the Thunder the lead.
However, the night was not over as each team had a re-ride opportunity on the docket to clinch the win. First up was Dirteater for the Stampede, and he dominated Schott In The Dark (Broken Arrow S Ranch/Sutton Ranch) for a game-best 90.5 points, putting the Stampede back in the lead.
That left one chance left for the Thunder. In a must-ride situation, Teel attempted the re-ride aboard War Cry (Broken Arrow S Ranch/Sutton Ranch) and put up 88.25 points.
The Thunder clinched the victory, 267.5-261.75, during the last out of the opening game of the night.
The Missouri Thunder are now 11-10 and will look to continue their momentum Sunday when they play the Oklahoma Freedom (12-9).
Following the frustrating loss, the Nashville Stampede, who slipped to 5-15-1 in the season, will look to earn their first win of the weekend when they play the Texas Rattlers, presented by Ariat (9-12).
