NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Nashville Stampede, Music City’s first-ever professional bull riding team, has debuted the team’s new anthem, “Stampede,” written and recorded by Sony Music Publishing’s country music singer and songwriter Brice Long.

“Stampede” is available now wherever digital music is streamed and sold.

Long, a veteran songwriter for more than 25 years, has had more than 100 of his songs recorded, including by such prolific artists as Garth Brooks, George Strait, Chris Stapleton, Hank Williams Jr., and many more.

Long’s songwriting hits include the #1 singles “Heartache On The Dance Floor” by Jon Pardi and “Nothing On But The Radio” by Gary Allan, along with Randy Houser’s “Like a Cowboy,” which garnered Long a CMA nomination for Song of the Year.

“Stampede” was created at the request of the team’s Head Coach Justin McBride, who had a brief country music career that began while he was still riding bulls, releasing the albums Don’t Let Go and Justin McBride Live at Billy Bob’s Texas. McBride has sung on the stage of the famed Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and performed in front of more than 46,000 fans at Cowboys Stadium.

The two-time PBR World Champion strongly believes every sports team needs its own song. McBride chose Long to write and perform the song because he was confident the musician, who had written for him in the past, could bring his vision to life and correctly communicate the team’s values.

Long is the sole writer on the track, and in McBride’s words, “I know it would be good; I just didn’t know it would be that cool.”

McBride and Long first met in 2006 when McBride traveled to Nashville to work with songwriters Tim DuBois and Wynn Varble. McBride was walking out of the studio as Long was coming in, and the two quickly started a conversation, discovering they shared mutual friends.

Long grew up roping and surrounded by the cowboy lifestyle and was familiar with Western sports. He forged an immediate connection with McBride, who appreciated that the songwriter was a real cowboy who had done the things he was writing songs about. As their friendship grew, Long went on to write a few songs that McBride would cut, and when McBride was touring, Long would come out and play rhythm and do a few songs on his own.

The Nashville Stampede is one of eight founding teams for the groundbreaking PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Team Series, which transforms the individual sport of bull riding into one where riders compete as teams in head-to-head games.

Throughout the regular season, each team will compete in 28 head-to-head, five-on-five bull riding games¸ held across 10 events. The team with the highest aggregate score will be the game winner, and ties will be allowed.

Each team will host a three-day homestand, welcoming the seven other teams while also competing in two neutral site events, beginning with the season-launch event on July 25-26 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The season will conclude in Las Vegas on Nov. 4-6, when the teams will go head-to-head in the PBR Team Series Championship, vying to be crowned the Team Series Champions.

When the 2022 season gets underway on July 25-26 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the Nashville Stampede will compete against the Carolina Cowboys and Missouri Thunder.

Following the event in Cheyenne, the PBR Team Series will hold events in Kansas City, Missouri, and Anaheim, California, before the Stampede host their inaugural homestand Aug. 19-21 in Nashville, Tennessee, at Bridgestone Arena, the fourth event of the 2022 PBR Team Series season.

During their first-ever home event, the Stampede will play the Carolina Cowboys on Aug. 19, Texas Rattlers on Aug. 20, and the Kansas City Outlaws on Aug. 21.

The bull riding action for the 2022 PBR Team Series’ Stampede Days at Bridgestone Arena begins at 7:45 p.m. CDT on Friday, Aug. 19, 6:45 p.m. CDT on Saturday, Aug. 20, and 12:15 p.m. CDT on Sunday, Aug. 21, times subject to change.

Tickets for the three-day event are on sale now and start at $20, taxes and fees not included. Tickets can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com and PBR.com, at the Bridgestone Arena Box Office, or by calling PBR customer service at 1-800-732-1727.
