Ridin Solo in driver’s seat in 2022 YETI World Championship race

Ridin Solo in driver’s seat in 2022 YETI World Championship race

Ridin Solo bucks off Ezekiel Mitchell for 47-point bull score at the 2022 PBR World Finals.

FORT WORTH, Texas – Cord McCoy’s heart was racing on Thursday night, and the reality is it is going to be beating 100 times faster on Sunday morning when he loads Ridin Solo – the No. 1 bull in the world – into Dickies Arena.

Ridin Solo (46.22 World Champion Bull Average) has a commanding 0.44-point lead on reigning YETI World Champion Bull Woopaa (45.78 World Champion Bull Average) after he erupted for a 47-point bull score, bucking off Ezekiel Mitchell in 3.35 seconds, in Round 4 of the 2022 PBR World Finals.

“It’s not over,” McCoy said. “It’s like, in Round 2, Solo had kind of a base hit with a 45. Woopaa does the same today with a 45.25. Both of us kind of got one on first base. I feel like it’s Solo’s to lose now, but I would never count Woopaa out until about Monday morning.”

The difference, though, is the fact that Woopaa’s 43.25-point outing in Round 2 with Dalton Kasel (5.64 seconds) has him extremely behind the 8-ball in Fort Worth.

Ridin Solo has outscored Woopaa by 3.5 points in the bulls first two outs after beginning his Finals with a 45-point score as Josh Frost rode him for 92.75 points.

“Oh, I was nervous for tonight,” McCoy said. “There was a window open and an opportunity that I’ve never seen Woopaa leave open in two years. It was good just to take advantage of it. Me and Gene Owen were talking about it, too. It was a scary thing. It was kind of a scary thing with Solo and Woopaa both kind of missing in the first out, both three and four (World Champion contenders) could’ve easily moved in there. Both of us kind of left a window open. It was good that both bulls kind of navigated it and did better this round, anyways.”

Woopaa rebounded Thursday with a respectable 45.25 points when he bucked off 2002 World Champion Ednei Caminhas in 3.86 seconds.

Night Hawk was the top bull of Round 4 Thursday night with a massive 47.25-point bull score for sending Mason Taylor flying in 2.31 seconds.

The 2022 YETI World Champion Bull will be the animal with the highest average bull score from their top-six regular-season outs and two outs at the PBR World Finals.

The top bucking bulls competing at the Finals will receive three outs, and World Champion contenders will be able to drop their lowest score in Fort Worth. The 2022 YETI Bull of the Finals will be the top bull based on all three scores and receive a $25,000 bonus. Ridin Solo is in the lead for the Bull of the Finals title with 92 points.

The top bulls will buck for the final time Sunday in the championship round live on CBS national television (noon ET).
