CLAYTON, Ga. — In what was the first standalone event of the 2022 season, 2020 Ultimate Bullfighters (UBF) World Champion Chance Moorman (Lytle, Texas) took home top prize for the second year in a row in Clayton, Georgia, at the Tallulah Falls Invitational after an electric 87.5-point bullfight in the championship round.
Moorman edged second-place Colton Orcutt (Kersey, Colorado) at 83.5 by a full four points.
The top prize earned the current world No. 1 another $3,250 and important points in his pursuit of a second world title. World No. 2 Knox Dunn (Slaughter, Louisiana) is currently out of competition after an injury sustained at the last Bulls Gone Wild UBF event in Fort Worth, Texas, on April 7. However, with the massive payouts left in the 2022 season, like the $140,000 on the line in May during the PBR World Finals, anything is possible.
A total of 18 of the best bullfighters in the world descended upon Clayton, with competition starting on Friday night. There, the top 12 would advance to Saturday via six rounds of competition. On Saturday, six head-to-head matches took place, with the top six advancing to fight another bull.
On Friday, Moorman put up the highest-marked fight of the show at 86.5 points, edging Trenton Ross by a single point. Both men advanced to Saturday. On Saturday, Moorman raked in the points, showing out for a huge 88 in the first bout of the performance, earning his spot in the illustrious championship round.
In the championship round, which Moorman won, the top score took top money. He was followed by Orcutt and then a three-way tie, all at 83 points for $1,000 a man between the 20-year-old Austin Ashley, Michigan’s Tyler Washburn, and Tucker Lane, recently back from injury. Ross of Jackson, Wyoming, rounded out the top six, registering the high-marked fight of the entire weekend at 89 points in Saturday’s first round.
This week, the UBF and PBR’s Bulls Gone Wild wraps up with the final 2022 PBR World Finals qualifier inside Cowtown Coliseum on Thursday, April 21, starting at 7:30 p.m. CT. This event is the fourth in a series of 20 on tap in historic Fort Worth, Texas.
The next standalone events in the 2022 UBF Season are the Ultimate Bullfighters Invitational in Albion, Nebraska, on April 30, and the 2021 Event of the Year, The Party in the Pines in Swainsboro, Georgia, on May 6-7.
