HAMPTON, Va. – In front of an electric Virginia crowd at Hampton Coliseum Saturday night, Eduardo Aparecido (Gouvelandia, Brazil) swept both rounds of competition of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour event, winning the PBR Hampton Classic.

The veteran Brazilian got off to a hot start, tying for the Round 1 win when he covered Monkey Doo (Generations Pro Rodeo) for 86 points.

Aparecido then clinched the victory when he outlasted Mathew (Generations Pro Rodeo, Inc.) for an event-best 89 points in the championship round.

The 10-time PBR World Finals qualifier earned a crucial 42.5 world points for his efforts. He surged 13 positions in the world standings, climbing from No. 34 to No. 21.

Conner Halverson (Gordon, Nebraska) was second, collecting 25.5 world points.

The young Nebraska native tied for the Round 1 win alongside Aparecido, registering a matching 86-point score when he made the 8 atop Yippee High Cowboy (Generations Pro Rodeo, Inc.).

Halverson, however, was unable to conclude his outing by making the whistle. He was upset by Clean Sweep (JR Phillips) in 2.76 seconds in the final round.

The 20-year-old rose 17 positions in the world standings, climbing from No. 63 to No. 46.

Rounding out the Top 5 and tying for third were Claudio Montanha Jr. (Pacaembu, Brazil), Zach Miles (Nixon, Texas), Trace Brown (Stephenville, Texas) and Brandon Chambers (Newport, North Carolina).

Each rider delivered an 85-point score in Round 1 to take home 7.5 world points.

Montanha rode Jake Brake (JR Phillips), while Miles covered Texas Red (Generations Pro Rodeo, Inc.), Brown bested Open Borders (J Bar W) and Chambers made the 8 atop Bottoms Up (J Bar W).

In the bull pen, Malaka (Jenkins Cattle Co.) delivered the top score. The animal athlete was marked 45.5 points in Round 1 for his 5.37 second trip with Michael Phillips (Waynesburg, Pennsylvania).

The 2022 PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour season continues March 11-13 in Bangor, Maine, and March 12 in Dayton, Ohio. Action for the PBR Bangor Classic begins at 8 p.m. EST on Friday, March 11, 7 p.m. EST on Saturday, March 12, and 2 p.m. EST on Sunday, March 13 at Cross Insurance Center. Action for the PBR Dayton Rumble begins at 7 p.m. EST on Saturday, March 12.
