PBR Pick 'Em Morning Line - Duluth Round 2

Fans can watch the conclusion of the PBR Gwinnett Invitational Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.

By Slade Long

Round 2 and the Championship Round of the PBR Gwinnett Invitational airs Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.

Cooper Davis on 76 Lost Highway:

Davis was 87.25 last night which puts him firmly in the middle of the pack, but there’s a catch. He didn’t draw that well in round one. Plenty of riders go the whole season only staying on bulls when they draw just the right one. To win events and climb to the top of the standings, you have to stay on all the bulls that fit you well and a fair number of the ones that don’t. That’s the hard part, and Davis got that out of the way already. His odds against this one are much better. He was 87 points on Lost Highway last fall. A number of the riders who placed ahead of Davis in Round 1 drew tougher here, and that puts Davis in a good position to finish this event strong.

Andrew Alvidrez on 39E- Cherry Bomb:

Alvidrez did the same thing Davis did – got by a bull he had low odds of riding in Round 1, and he has a much better one here. Cherry Bomb is 2-3 against right-handed riders, and he’s a great draw for Alvidrez.

Mason Taylor on -752 Oddball:

This is a fairly new bull we haven’t seen much, but Taylor already has his number. He was 86.75 points on this bull last summer in Las Vegas. Oddball only has three outs on record, and Taylor is the only man who has ridden him. Taylor was also 87 points in Round 1, and he looks good to go 2-for-2 here.

Chase Outlaw on E18 Cuttin’ Torch:

Outlaw bucked off in Round 1, but he has a premium draw here. Cuttin’ Torch can deliver big scores, and he has near perfect timing. He’s 3-3 against lefties, and 2-3 against top tier riders. Outlaw should have the advantage here and could be 88 to 90 points.

Derek Kolbaba on 630 Patillo Ridge:

Kolbaba bucked off this bull about two years ago, but he still has pretty good odds of a qualified ride here. Patillo Ridge goes to the left, and has some power, but he also has pretty good timing. This is a matchup Kolbaba should win, and Kolbaba already has an 89.5-point ride on the board from winning second in Round 1.

Joao Ricardo Vieira on 790 Prince Harry:

This is an inexperienced bull against a seasoned veteran rider. Prince Harry has given up one ride in five career outs. He threw Dalton Kasel off last night and posted a 45.5-point bull score. Vieira, despite his age, is 11-for 12 on the season (8-for-8  on the premier series) and leading the world standings. He was 88.75 points last night for fifth place in the round.

Austin Richardson on 209 Bad Beagle:

This is kind of a rare case in that this bull has been in the game for three years longer than Richardson has. Bad Beagle is a long-time veteran bull with 66 career outs, three PBR Finals and one NFR qualification on his resume. He’s spent the last couple of years going to rodeos, but before that he was a regular in UTB level short rounds and 15/15 Bucking Battles. He’s also rideable, but not easy to ride. He’s been better to right-handed riders throughout his career. Richardson has a chance here. This bull is a little over his head, but Bad Beagle is getting older and Richardson has ridden bulls this tough before.

Brennon Eldred on E19 After Midnight:

Eldred won the opening round with an outstanding ride, but he has a big question mark here. After Midnight is 3-0, and he has buckoffs against Cody Teel and Marcelo Procopio Periera – both in New York a few weeks ago. Don’t know much about the bull here, but Eldred looked unstoppable in Round 1. If he brings the same effort here he wins this match.

Kyler Oliver on C05 Honey Man:

Oliver was fourth in Round 1, but he has a really difficult bull here. Honey Man has 37 outs in a 3-year career, and he has only been ridden five times. He gave up a score to Thiago Salgado last summer on an off day for him. Before that, the last time he was ridden was in August 2019, and he faced a lot of capable riders in that time.

Silvano Alves on 561C Hocus Pocus:

Alves really drew two outstanding bulls here, although he had long odds against Hostage – his first- round bull. This one is a lot better fit for him. Hocus Pocus is typically a championship-round bull at this level, but he has been ridden by right-handed riders some of the time. The bull has the edge here, but Alves going into his hand could make this interesting.
