CEDAR PARK, Texas – As action for the second PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour events in as many years in Cedar Park, Texas, wound to climactic finish Saturday evening, no rider was more dominant than Cladson Rodolfo Vieira (Pilar do Sul, Brazil). Backed by a perfect 3-for-3 showing, Vieira won the PBR Cedar Park Chute Out at H-E-B Center, his first-ever PBR victory.

Vieira got off to a hot start Friday evening in Round 1, delivering the ninth-best score when he rode Imagine Dragon (Perot Bucking Bulls/CG Bucking Bulls/Big Rafter Rodeo) for 83 points.

The 24-year-old then won Round 2 when he made the 8 aboard Cheap Trick (TDS/Buentello Bucking Bulls) for 88 points.

Undeterred by the bright lights and pressure of just his fourth event on American soil, Vieira clinched the event win when he rode Hollywood (TDS/Buentello Bucking Bulls) for 86 points.

Vieira collected 38.5 world points for his efforts, surging to No. 25 in the PBR world standings.

As the only other rider to go a perfect 3-for-3, Luciano de Castro (Guzolandia, Brazil) was second, earning 26 world points.

In the opening rounds of competition, the four-time PBR World Finals qualifier was unchallenged, making the requisite 8 aboard TNT (D4 Cattle Co./Fabulous IV Bucking Bulls) for 79.5 points in Round 1 and Systematic (UTC/Sellers Bucking Bulls) for 86.5 points in Round 2.

Castro then surged to No. 2 on the final event leaderboard when he went the distance aboard Church Bells (Pick-it Hammers) for 87 points.

Eager to return to the premier Unleash The Beast, Castro’s silver finish gained him much-needed ground in the world standings. He is now No. 27 in the early 2022 PBR World Championship race.

Australian sensation Ky Hamilton (Mackay, Queensland) was third.

Hamilton led the PBR Cedar Park Chute Out entering the championship round courtesy of an 85.5-point score on Driller (Richardson Land & Cattle Co.) in Round 1 and an 87.5-point score atop Hogeye Hustler (Pick-it Hammers) in Round 2.

The 21-year-old, however, was bested in the championship round. Despite the raucous cheers from the Lone Star State crowd, Hamilton was brought down in 3.63 seconds by Dog Walk (Nothin’ But Try Ranch/ ‘Diggers Bucking Bulls).

Hamilton collected 16 world points.

Fourth was Clayton Sellars (Fruitland Park, Florida).

Following a heartbreaking Round 1 effort, bucked off by Waynes World (T&G Bucking Bulls) in 7.13 seconds, Sellars was seemingly unstoppable on Championship Saturday.

First riding Shortcut (Bucking Crazy Bucking Bulls) for 87 points in Round 2, Sellars delivered the second qualified ride of the event when he covered Ain’t Easy Being Me (Mason Bucking Bulls) for 85 points.

Sellars left H-E-B Center having earned 10 world points and is now No. 40 in the world standings.

Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Patterson Starcher (Tonganoxie, Kansas).

After going 1-for-2 through Round 1 and Round 2, riding Kangaroo (Nothin’ But Try Ranch/Kinser Bucking Bulls) for 80.5 points in Round 2 and bucking off Skeebo (TDS/Buentello Bucking Bulls) in a quick 2.15 seconds in Round 1, Starcher reached new career heights in the championship round.

Matching Hey Bartender (JQH Bucking Bulls/Skip & Elaine Jones) jump-for-jump, Starcher was marked a career-best and championship round-winning 91 points.

Starcher left Cedar Park with 11 world points.

The PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour’s Cedar Park Chute Out was also a stop on the 2022 Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge.

Pick-it Hammers won the performance with 278.19 points courtesy of the trips notched by 7 Up, Hogeye Hustler and Church Bells.

Second place was UTC/Sellers Bucking Bulls with 276.23 points, while JQH Bucking Bulls #2 was third with 274.79 points. UTC/Sellers Bucking Bulls’ team included Systematic, Keep ‘em Guessin and Cayman Jack, while the bronze effort from JQH Bucking Bulls #2 was earned courtesy of outs recorded by The Jungle, Speck and Hey Bartender.

The 2022 PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour season continues on Saturday, January 22, with tour stops in Greenville, South Carolina, and Spokane, Washington. The PBR Greenville Invitational at Bon Secours Wellness Arena begins at 7 p.m. EST, and the PBR Spokane Classic at Spokane Arena begins at 7 p.m. PST.
