SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Despite night two of the PBR Wrangler Long Live Cowboys Classic, presented by Bass Pro Shops, being dominated by the powerful animal athletes, Brazilian phenom Luciano de Castro (Guzolandia, Brazil) walked away with the Round 2 win courtesy of an 88.75-point ride.

Paired with Mr. Winston (Dakota Rodeo/ Mark Baker/ Clay Struve/ Chad Berger), Castro rocketed out of the chutes in complete control. Fans inside of Golden 1 Center cheered as he conquered his bovine opponent, recording what would be the night’s highest score.

As one of 11 riders to go 2-for-2 thus far in the weekend, the round win moved Castro into fourth place on the event leaderboard and earned him 28 world points. Heading into Championship Sunday, the 25-year-old cowboy is now No. 18 in the world standings.

After finishing in a tie for third place in Round 1 on Friday night alongside Mauricio Gulla Moreira (Gaviao Peixoto, Brazil), 21-year-old Cannon Cravens (Porum, Oklahoma) was laser-focused as he climbed into the chutes for his matchup with Off Campus (Dakota Rodeo/ Brian & Ashley Pintar/ Clay Struve/ Chad Berger).

Recording a ride of 88.25 points, Cravens finished in second place in Round 2 and sits in second place on the event leaderboard.

The young gun from Oklahoma earned 18 world points, jumping him from No. 17 in the world standings to No. 15.

Three cowboys rounded out the Top 5 in a three-way split for third place.

Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas), Brennon Eldred (Sulphur, Oklahoma) and Moreira celebrated matching 87.5-point scores, which earned them each 16 world points.  

Launching out of the chutes aboard Wild Eyes (Leffew Bucking Bulls/Meza), Kasel remained in control to make the 8 and take a firm hold at the top of the weekend’s leaderboard. Kasel will head into Sunday ranked No. 8 in the world standings.

After a rocky start to the weekend when he was tossed to the ground in a mere 3.46 seconds on Friday night, Eldred was on fire in Saturday’s Round 2 as he bested Triple X (Benavides Bucking Bull/ Marin Roofing/Sandoval). His smooth ride aboard the athletic bovine moved him from No. 29 in the world standings to No. 26.

Moreira was paired with Delbert Sr. (Clay Stuve/ Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger), delivering an impressive ride to maintain his hold at No. 29 in the world standings and sail into second place on the leaderboard.

The PBR Wrangler Long Live Cowboys Classic, presented by Bass Pro Shops, will continue with Round 3 and the championship round on Sunday, Jan. 30 at 1:45 p.m. PST.
